Can google please add a way to delete offline devices from google Wifi

Hello Google

I am super frustrated with the way you guys are developing features into your Home App and the functionality around wifi

Looking through various post I have observed the desire from many user a way that we can delete / remove offline devices from wifi...

I have so many unnamed devices that I have no clue what they are... and please do not tell me that after 60 days they will be removed... That is not an acceptable solution, and I do not want to hear that.

Is it that difficult to understand that some users what to be able to control this and be able to remove devices. Do you not care for your user base ?

I agree. It would be great to be able to manually remove them.

Whilst we're at it, why can't we have VLAN tagging, too?

For anyone wanting these changes, try submitting feedback through the app as I believe that's read directly by employees in the first instance.

@carguy143  I do submit feedback using the app. Actually a few years ago I raised this very issue. I honestly think that Google doesn’t even care.
There is no response or even any acknowledgement… It’s a billion dollar company with no real care for folks like us it seems.

I'm assuming that I'm not asking for much here... I mean, there are products that already do this... Heck even my crappy ISP modem has this feature where I'm allowed to "Forget" devices that are no longer connected to the network anymore..

I wonder where our friend Jeff is the official corporate commander of these forums to tell me that

"This feature is not available but I can pass the suggestion along to our internal teams as a feature request"

And then we wait a few more years before this gets raised again, and in circles we go. I really wish that I can be proven wrong but with this track record it's hard to have faith in the fact that our feedback is actually being valued as customers with no action or transparency.

Hi everyone,

I know this is a commonly suggested feature, and I can understand why you would want to be able to edit your lists. Generally devices will fall off your device history after 60 days if they haven't connected, but we do see some situations where the devices stick. I don't know what the update roadmap looks like for features, but we do pass these requests along, and they are reviewed and taken into account by our internal development teams.

While I will pass the feedback along, I would also encourage you to leave your own feedback within the Google Home app. You're able to leave comments with that feedback and that is also reviewed.

I know you all want to see a commitment that the feature will be added, but I don't know if that's in the works. The best I can do is keep submitting the feedback, so I'll do so now. Aside from that, is there any more I can help with at this time?

Thanks,
Jeff

Hey folks,

Checking back in should you still have some questions here. Let us know by replying to this thread.

Thanks for the help, @Jeff.

Best,
Abi

No more questions… I guess this can be closed… As @Jeff has stated this is a commonly requested feature that google just doesn’t want to prioritize for its customers. Kind of disappointing but such is life. I will reach out to you guys again in a couple of years most likely to ask the same question… let’s face it @AbigailF  and @Jeff , the odds of Google putting this highly requested feature in is slim. I just want to thank you for your time and I’ll chat with you guys in a few years unless I switch my wifi system out with a competing product.

Hello there OlllyBee,

We understand how this feature is important to a lot of users. Rest assured that all feedback sent to us is considered in improving overall customer experience. We also appreciate your understanding and patience on this matter.

I’ll be locking this thread now. If you have a new concern or inquiry, you can always create a new thread. We’ll be here to answer them for you.

Regards,
Abi

Hello @AbigailF

I am sorry but I will be very honest here… I really do not believe you. If you look through the forums and see how many people asked about this and even as you have stated

“We understand how this feature is important to a lot of users”

and after all this time no action has been taken up to this date… it seems that your PMs / POs lack accountability. Or there appears to be a weak link in the communication channels between front end and back end. Which would explain why customer requests are not being taken seriously.

or

the entire wifi project is shelved and in maintenance mode which my money is on that!

Hey OllyBee,

Right now there's no way to manually edit the device history, but most devices will fall off after an extended period of inactivity. If a device connects once more before disappearing, that time frame will reset and some devices can appear to remain for quite some time. That said, there are some instances of devices remaining in the device history for a long time, and I can see how being able to edit the list would be useful in those cases. I can pass your comments along to our internal teams in the form of a feature request and let them know that being able to edit the history list would be useful for you and others.

Aside from passing that along, is there anything else I can help with at this time?

Thanks,
Jeff

Sorry @Jeff

but that from a user standpoint is not an acceptable workflow and a very poorly implemented design on Googles part. Absolutely mediocre and frankly an embarrassment to whom ever thought that this is ok. Try to put yourself into your users base shoes… Imagine an app you use and there is a feature in the app that over an “extended period of inactivity” the changes will be made! Your first impression would be… What! Whoa the heck am I dealing here with ? Amateurs!

Hey OlllyBee,

I can't speak directly to how the decisions are made about which features to update or add to the hardware and apps, but I can assure you that the feedback is reviewed. And yes, we have had a good number of people requesting the ability to edit the offline device list. If you haven't sent your feedback in through the Home app, I would suggest you do so using the feedback feature. The more people speak up, the more clear it is that there are many asking for a change to the app.

I wish I had more concrete info about whether or not this feature is a possible add or not, but feedback is definitely an important factor. Aside from passing your comments on in the form of a feature request, is there any more I can help with here?

Thanks,
Jeff

Let’s not kid ourselves here! I’m in the software industry and I know when a project is shelved and to me this stinks of a project that google has shelved and is on low maintenance mode… Maybe you have one or two devs dedicated to this that do a monthly check in but no new features. Hence why it appears that these requests from customers are not being taken seriously.

I’m just calling it how I see it @Jeff
