Enabling Guest Network makes Google Nest fail

Hello. I have been having a lot of annoying problems with my Google Nest Wifi. It was constantly failing and required daily restart. I gave up and decided to factory reset the entire network. After that it worked fine for a while but then it completely failed, no wifi at all, speed test failed, restarting the network didn´t work. But when I disabled the guest network I had created everything worked again.
Is this a know bug or issue with the goole nest wifi? Is there any solutions to fix this?

Hi @oroantico

That doesn't sound good, let me help you.

There are a couple of possibilities for why your Guest Network might be causing issues with your Google Nest Wifi. Here's what you can try:

1. Check for firmware updates: Outdated firmware can sometimes cause bugs and glitches. Make sure your Nest Wifi devices are running the latest firmware. You can check for updates in the Google Home app under Wi-Fi > Settings > Device information.

2. Restart your Network: Even after a factory reset, a simple restart can sometimes clear up temporary glitches. Try disconnecting the power from your modem and Nest Wifi router for about 2 minutes, then reconnect them one by one.

3. Advanced Troubleshooting: Here are some additional things you can try:

  • Check LAN IP: In rare cases, conflicting LAN IP addresses can cause issues. Check your Nest Wifi's LAN IP settings in the Google Home app under Wi-Fi > Settings > Advanced networking > LAN.
  • Disable IPv6: IPv6 incompatibility can also be a culprit. Try disabling IPv6 in your Nest Wifi settings (consult your internet service provider (ISP) for guidance if needed).

Additional Tips:

Brandon.
