Frontier 2 Gigabit Internet

All

I am looking for some advice:

I ordered 2 Gbit Fiber from frontier. The services comes with eero wifi 6 router.

My current router is Google Mesh Router 5Ghz.

Can I swap eero wifi 6 for my existing Google Mesh Wifi 5Ghz or upgrade to the 6Ghz?

Can any of the Google Mesh routers handle 2 Gbit or I need to downgrade?

Looking forward to your comments..

I just looked it up. You have to have the eero 6 pro to get the 2.5 Gbps ports. I just looked up each Google mesh gadget, and the ones I found were gigabit. Some didn't have speeds listed.

If that's the case can the eero 6 be configured as a passthrough device to Google nest wifi pro?

I found out you can configure the eero into bridge mode and connect your existing Google Wifi as you main router: https://support.eero.com/hc/en-us/articles/208276903-How-do-I-bridge-my-eeros-

Hey folks,

Thanks for lending a hand, @thisisausername.
@ekmhenry, I wanted to follow up and see if you are still in need of any help. Please let me know if you are still having any concerns or questions from here, as I would be happy to take a closer look and assist you further.

Thanks,
Abi

@AbigailF @thisisausername I was able to connect the Google Nest WiFi behind the eero pro 6e creating 2 WiFi networks. Devices on the eero WiFi connects on 1Gbps and Devices on the Google WiFi also can get up to 1Gbps. I am adding a 2.5Gbps switch to the eero network tomorrow and suspect I will get even better performance since the eero's backhaul will be 2.5 Gbps. My current Nests and I understand the Google Nest Pro 6 cannot go beyond 1Gbps.

Hi ekmhenry,

Thanks for the update. You may need to bridge your modem because having 2 Wi-Fi networks running at the same time could cause Double NAT. We'll keep this thread open for a few days to give you time to update us.

Abi

Abi,

I am currently running 2-Wifi with Double Nat.  Since the eero 6e routers are faster than the Google Nest Wifi I use the eero 6e network for media access only and the Google Wifi for everything else. So they both seems to be working fine.
