Google nest wifi point can’t add to mesh network

qmartd

I have being using nest router and one point for a couple of years.  I switched my internet provider from Xfinity to ATT fiber.  I received a new gateway from AT&T.   I did a factory reset of my 2 nests    I was able to get the nest I use as router connected to new gateway using Ethernet cable.  I can not get the wifi point yo connect.  I keep getting a message that connection failed.  Try again later.   I have reinstalled the google home  app on my phone.   Any suggestions on what to try next?

Since iOS is mentioned, see:

Also make sure to put the modem in bridge mode to avoid double nat, which can cause trouble. More on that:

Thanks for your response.   The Gateway I have from AT&T is BGW320.   I searched and what I could find was that there isn't a bridge mode.  I did see how to set-up Passthrough up the Gateway and I set it up to in DHCPS-FIxed passthrough mode.  I also turned off the Wifi on the AT&T Gateway.     I tried to connect the Nest Point again and had the same error message "Request failed. Please try again later"   I checked the link on IOS and my phone was set-up correctly to work with Google Home.  Thanks

Could you try with a different iOS, iPadOS or Android device?

I tried using a different IOS phone with Google Home on it and had the same issue. Could not add the wifi point to the network.

Hi qmartd,

Thanks for the update. To confirm, were you able to try using an android device to set up your Nest Wifi point? I'll wait for your update.

Abi

Hello qmartd,

Sorry if it took some time for us to get back to you. I just want to check if you were still unable to get your Google Nest Wifi point added to your mesh network. Please perform a 2-minute power cycle on both your modem and your Google Nest Wifi router before setting up the access points again.

Best,
Lovely

Hi qmartd,

Have you tried the troubleshooting steps that I suggested? Let me know if that did the trick or not, so we can try something else.

Sincerely,
Lovely

Hi,  I had the Nest Wifi Point connected along with the Nest Router when I was using Xfinity as my internet provider and had a Netgear Cable modem.   When I switched to AT&T Fiber and have the AT&T Gateway as the cable modem I have been able to connect the Nest Router but not the Nest  Wifi Point.   I have always used IOS as the operating system for the Google Home App,

Thanks
