Nest Wifi points adjust volume by itself and makes max volume sound

In the middle of the night, I can hear a "double tap" sound loudly from downstairs. If I go check, I would find out that the volume is set to maximum on that unit. It happens when everyone in the house except me is sleeping. There is no way anyone is touching it, and it has happened multiple times. I suspect there is a sensor failure that the wifi thinks someone is tapping it to adjust volume. I have a 3 unit system, 1 router and 2 ap's. Only the AP in the living room is having this issue.

It's very similar to this old thread from last year: https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Nest-Wifi/Nest-WiFi-Point-keeps-making-Max-Volume-sound/m-p/3...

I have tried resetting the unit and system, but the issue persists. It's a nuisance at this point.

I NEVER really tap the nest wifi to adjust sound. Is there a way to disable it on the unit? I figure I could open it up and dust it, but not worth losing the warranty on it. What's the suggestion here?

Hi MoneyPro,

Thanks for posting in the community!

I understand it's frustrating that your Nest Wifi point is experiencing unusual behavior. A factory reset can often resolve some uncommon scenarios by restoring the device to its original settings.

Here are the steps to factory reset the Nest point:

  • Locate the small circle etched into the device at the bottom, just above the "G" logo.
  • Press and hold this button for about 15 seconds. You'll hear a sound after about 5 seconds to indicate the reset has begun. Continue holding for the full 15 seconds.

Hopefully this gets solved as soon as possible. Please let me know if you continue to experience problems or have any questions.

Best regards,

Nery.
