@BHV

Perhaps there are Google Nest server problems right now, though nothing is noted on status.nest.com.

There is this thread from today as well::

https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Apps-Account/Can-t-log-in-to-the-Nest-App-using-Google-creden...

Can’t sign into the app. It says “There was a problem connecting to the Nest service. Try again in a few minutes.” I’ve never had issues with the app prior. I made a new google account and it let me log in right away with a different sign in. It also let my daughter sign in with her google account, so I am wondering if I’m locked out with my original username?

Earlier today I attempted to add a Nest Yale lock to the app and it was very glitchy, it wouldn’t add. I totally aborted the idea of using the lock but now I’m locked out of using my username on the nest app to control my thermostat. Having another email username JUST for my thermostat is ridiculous.

A few other customers have posted today with problems accessing the Google Nest app:

Thanks for reaching out. There was an issue that impacted customers to log in to the Nest app but this should be resolved now. Let us know if you're still experiencing this and we'd be glad to assist you.

Thanks,

Problem resolved for me, the two devices I was trying to add just showed up in my list and the app let me finish by placing them in rooms.

Hi folks,

BHV, awesome! Glad to hear. If you need help in the future, you know where to find us.

Lukas1, let’s sort this out — a few questions: what’s the status light of your Nest Detect? When did the issue start? How far is your detect from the Nest Guard? Also, were there any changes to your Wi-Fi network?

Going over the steps here might help:

  1. Make sure Google Nest Secure is set to Off Nest Guard off. Otherwise,
    the alarm will sound when you try to restart Detect.
  2. Press and hold your Detect’s button for about 10 seconds. When the light ring pulses blue, release the button.
  3. Detect will reset itself and automatically try to connect
    to Guard again.
  4. Check your Detect with the Nest app to make sure it’s working normally. If it’s having trouble, the app will tell you.
  5. If you disarmed Nest Secure earlier, remember to arm it again.

I appreciate the help here, MplsCustomer.

Thanks,

JT

Hi there, we have one Nest thermostat and 3 sensors I would like to connect. The problem is that sign in with google does not work on the app. I have tried uninstalling the app, restarting the phone, updating iOS, restarting the thermostat. I can’t add the thermostat in the Google home app, as it tells me to use the Nest app. This is a Nest learning thermostat 3rd gen brand new. When my wife tries to sign in with Google (Android). The Nest app keeps just spinning forever.

@Lukas1

If you were previously able to log into the Google Nest app with Google, then perhaps you should try contacting Google Nest Support (https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp) to see whether there is a Google Nest server problem that is affecting you. Or wait awhile and try again. A week or so ago, there were reports in this forum from customers getting the same error you're getting, but it was supposedly fixed.
