Audio skips at start of play when connected to bluetooth audio

This thread got locked. https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Speakers-and-Displays/Spotify-Sound-stutters-on-track-advance...

I'm still having this issue. I tried a different Bluetooth speaker (JBP Flip 5) sitting right next to the Nest Hub and it does the same thing. This happens anytime the audio starts. So it could be at the start of a song, or if I simply pause and play a song it stutters for the first few seconds and then it's fine for the rest of that track. When the next track starts, it does it again. I have played a 4-hour youtube track, and it plays just fine through the entire track. It is only when audio starts. Any other suggestions? Is this a known issue?

Hi KLD19,

I’m sorry if the behavior is still happening when playing a song, at the beginning it stutters; however, upon reading the previous thread, it would seem it really has something to do with the devices connected to your Nest Hub via bluetooth. How about we test it out ― it would help a lot if we could only use a bluetooth connection between your phone and your 3rd party speaker and see if it still stutters. You could also try a bluetooth connection between your phone and your Nest Hub directly.

Check out this guide for more details.

Keep me posted.

Best,

Dan

Hi Dan,

I have tried playing directly from my phone to both bluetooth speakers and there is no skipping.

I also have an Echo Dot (am I allowed to say that here?=) and it plays from Spoity to these Bluetooth speakers without any skipping. Same network, same devices, same account, etc.

I don't feel like what I'm doing is super unique. Google Nest hub, Spotify, Bluetooth speaker. There must be thousands of people doing this same thing. Do you think it's possible I have a bad unit?

Thanks,
Kevin

Hey there,

Thank you for your efforts and patience. For confirmation, you have tried the bleutooth connection between your Nest Hub and just your phone or computer, right? Does it stutter? Also. we couldn't really say that you have a bad Nest Hub but we also couldn't rule out that info however, this only happens when the music starts between the Nest Hub and another bluetooth speaker. But when it's only playing music through your Nest Hub, it works fine, right? Can we also check playing music via bluetooth between your phone and a non-Nest speaker and see if it happens?

Best,

Dan
