Google Home is very slow

PierreStone
Community Member

Hi,

In my home I have one nest Hub max, one Nest Hub, one Google home and one Google Home Mini.

I also have 4 Alexa devices.

All Google devices are extremely slow while all Alexa devices are very fast, whatever the place they are standing.

I reboot often my router/network, the Goglle Home devicess, and each device is at less than 5 meters than my access points (4 Google Wifi), this doesnt help.

My internet connection is not fast but Alexa is doing very well with. When I place one Alexa close to one Google Home (so I guess they get the same  interferences, Alexa is always ok, Google Home always slow.  When I ask a Nest Home to play the news from a TV channel, the video is always laggy. On Alexa Spot, it's not.

I also tried to hard reset the Google homes, it doesn't help.

One of the differences I have with the Google devices is that they are linked to several services (Jeedom, Philips Hue, Arlo, Heos, Tp-link Tuya, Mi Home, etc...), could it be a reason for them to be slow? If yes, how could I identify which are the services responsible from this slowness?

Thanks and best regards,

Pierre

Hey PierreStone,

Thanks for visiting the Community.

I know how challenging it is when you're experiencing issues with your Google Home/Nest devices. Let's dig deeper into this.

A few questions:

  • When did the issue start?
  • How many Google Home/Nest devices do you have? Please list down the specific devices.

Let's go ahead and try setting up one of your devices on a different network like mobile hotspot. Let's see if your device will have the same behavior. Please note that you will need two mobile devices for this setup (one will serve as a router and the other to be used to set up your Google Home/Nest device).

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers,

Hello,

Thanks for your answers.

As listed a first,  I have one nest Hub max, one Nest Hub, one Google home and one Google Home Mini.

Not sure when the issue started, maybe it has always been there (years ago), I'm just surprised to see how fast are the Alexa devices on the same network.

I didn't try yet on another network as it wont be a solution in the end

Thanks and best regards,

Pierre

Hey PierreStone,

Got it! I really want your device to back on track, and trying to connect one of your speakers to a different network is the best way for us to isolate the issue. Give it a try!
