Google Nest Hub stops working with TuneIn

NightFalcon8

Hello,

I have put my Google Nest Hub in storage for more than a year since TuneIn stopped working.  Recently I took it out again and the problem still exists.  I'm in Singapore and am trying to play RTHK Radio 2 on TuneIn.  It used to be working when I first got the Nest Hub some years ago.  I read that there were several users from other countries facing issues with some radio channels from TuneIn too.  Couldn't find a solution for mine.

Appreciate if fellow users can assist.  Thank you.

Hi @NightFalcon8,

It's understandable that you'd be frustrated after finding out TuneIn isn't working on your Nest Hub. There could be a few reasons for this, but don't worry, there are steps you can take to try and fix it.

Here are some things you can try:

General Troubleshooting:

  1. Restart your Nest Hub and router: A simple reboot can often fix connectivity issues. Unplug both devices from the power source for a minute, then plug them back in one at a time.

  2. Check for software updates: Make sure your Nest Hub is running the latest software. Updates often include bug fixes and compatibility improvements. You can check for updates in the Google Home app.

  3. Verify your Wi-Fi connection: Ensure your Nest Hub is connected to a strong and stable Wi-Fi network.

  4. Re-link TuneIn: Try unlinking and relinking your TuneIn account to your Google Assistant. This can sometimes refresh the connection.

  5. Factory reset your Nest Hub (last resort): If none of the above solutions work, you may need to factory reset your Nest Hub. This will erase all your settings and customization, so only try this as a last resort.

If none of these solutions work, it might be helpful to reach out to our Google Nest support or TuneIn support directly.

Best,

Brandon.

Hello Brandon,

Thanks for reading and replying to my post.  I have tried the above steps several times previously after it was mentioned in some discussions.  However, I'm still not able to get TuneIn RTHK Radio 2 working on my Google Nest Hub. 😔. Could it be blocked or something similar to that?

Hi @NightFalcon8,

It sounds like there might be an issue with TuneIn radio functionality in Singapore, specifically with certain channels.

Here are a couple of things you can try:

  • Update the TuneIn app: Make sure you have the latest version of the TuneIn app installed on your Nest Hub. Outdated apps can sometimes cause compatibility issues.
  • Contact TuneIn appTuneIn offers support options. You can contact them to see if they are aware of any specific issues with RTHK Radio 2 in Singapore or if there's a workaround available.

Even though you couldn't find a solution previously, it's always worth checking again as things might have changed or updates might have resolved the problem.

Best,

Brandon.

Dear Brandon,

I do not have issue with TuneIn on my Apple and Alexa devices.  It is only Google that began to stop TuneIn streaming sometime last year.  I had to ditched all my Google devices and put them in store.

You mentioned: "

  • Update the TuneIn app: Make sure you have the latest version of the TuneIn app installed on your Nest Hub. Outdated apps can sometimes cause compatibility issues."

How do I update the TuneIn app on the Nest Hub?

@NightFalcon8,

I apologize for the misinformation. I previously mentioned updating the TuneIn app on Nest Hub, which isn't possible. Nest Hub uses Google Assistant to access TuneIn, and updates for Assistant happen automatically.
