As mentioned in the title, I've had consistent issues with casting from my phone, currently using a Pixel 6 Pro but also experienced on Pixel 3 Pro. The disconnect causing issues like picking up where you left off, having the app recognize that an episode may be finished, marking an episode as played, etc..
Was also mentioned in this thread earlier (https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Speakers-and-Displays/podcasts-no-longer-quot-pickup-where-I-...).
I'm surprised more people are experiencing this. Seeing as its Chromecast and the Google Podcast App, is there anything that can be done to improve this or keep it from happening?

A few questions: What type of Chromecast device do you have? Is this happening across all apps or only when casting from Podcast? Have you tried to use a different mobile device aside from your Pixel phones, like an iOS device?
