Google home voice call problems

Gizmoned

Any tips for troubleshooting/resolving issues with Google Assistant calling. We used to be able to say "Press 1" or "Press #" during a call (required when checking voicemail or accessing IVR services). This has recently stopped working and we desperately need this feature back. We are located in Canada.

thanks

Hello Gizmoned,

Thanks for posting in the Community.

Could you please tell us what type of Google Nest speakers are you using?

Use your voice to navigate through a phone tree. When the phone system gives you the prompt for the option you want, such as "Press 2," say "Hey Google, press 2." With a Nest Hub or Nest Hub Max display, you can also use the dial pad on your screen.

Note: With Duo calls, you'll not be able to use voice commands in a call to navigate a phone system.

Hope this helps.

Best,

Princess

I have the same problem when calling from my Google Nest Minis, both original and the 2nd generation models. It's very annoying when I'm trying to call a business that has no default action for callers who don't press any number 😞  it used to work so beautifully

Hi dennco,

Thanks for reaching out. Have you had the chance to try the steps provided by Princess? If you did, try to reboot your Google Nest Mini and once it’s back on, try the feature once more.

Hi Jim, thanks for your swift reply.

I did try. Princess's instruction to

"When the phone system gives you the prompt for the option you want, such as "Press 2," say "Hey Google, press 2.""
is exactly what used to work but does not work any longer. I did try pulling out the power cord for 30 seconds and on another occasion I used the Home app on my cell phone to reset the device. Neither one of these actions made any difference. "Press 2" is still not relayed to the called party.

Hello dennco,

Thanks for trying that. Sorry that you are still experiencing the issue. Try the factory reset, this erases all your personalized settings and restores the factory default settings. It won’t automatically reconnect to WI-Fi, and you’ll need to set it up again.

Check out the article below to know more about it.

this is what I wrote: I have original and 2nd gen Google Nest devices. When I call a number with an IVR response system (e.g. doctor's office) and instruct Google for example to "press 1", tthe command is ignored. I tried resetting each device, both soft reset and factory reset to no avail. This is been going on for several months.
