Hi folks,

I'm happy to hear that some of the stations are now working. Let's keep monitoring it as the team is still investigating due to the fact that there are other stations that can't be played. I'll keep updating this thread as soon as I have additional information to share.

I marked my previous post as a "Solution" to pin my post on this thread so everyone can see it immediately without the need to scroll down  just  to see that our team is already investigating the issue.

Hey folks,

I'm checking in on this thread to see how many users are still having the same issue with TuneIn. Please do not forget to provide your location, radio station that you're having an issue with, and the type of Google Home/Nest device that you have. This information will be very helpful for the team to isolate the issue further.

Cheers,

Muddi

Hey folks,

We appreciate all your patience. No new updates for now. If you still have the same issue on your devices, please do not forget to send feedback using the keywords: "GHT3 Unable to play <name of station> in Tune In." Also, update this thread with your country and device.

Rest assured that our team is working vigorously on this issue. I'll update this thread again once I got more information to share.

@MarsHotel : Is it happening on a specific station only?

@skram : Thanks for the information. I already forward it to the team.

Cheers,

Hi everyone,

For those who are still experiencing the issue, please provide the following info:

  • What type of Google Nest speakers are affected by this?
  • What are the stations that are not working?
  • What stations are currently working?
  • Cast firmware version of your Google Nest speakers

To check which firmware version you're on, follow these steps:

  1. Make sure your mobile device or tablet is linked to the same account as your speaker or display.
  2. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  3. Touch and hold your device's tile.
  4. At the top right, tap Settings and then Device information.
  5. Under "Technical information," find Cast firmware: X.XXX.XXXXX.

I've had the very same thing for the last couple of days, no radio on tunein

Has anyone come up with a solution?

Bbc only works 😂

Yes but if you ask Google to play a BBC station I don't think it goes through TuneIn.

Hi there.

Same problem since yesterday on my nest hub in Greece. Trying to listen my favourite station RedFM but nothing happens.

Though it's a TuneIn problem connecting with Google devices.

I can listen to my android mobile phone.

The only "solution" I can find is play the radio on your android app and then cast it to your google home mini

Also I have seen some advice to send feedback through your google home to tell them so I did the following

"Hey Google send feedback

Tunein not working on google home mini in Ireland'"

Can as many affected people as possible do this so Google are made aware of the scale of the issue.  Contacting TuneIn via https://help.tunein.com/contact may also be a good idea.

I've just done that - I'm in France + also contributed to the twitter thread

I also emailed tunein

https://help.tunein.com/contact

Our Home stopped playing radio via TuneIn. After a few experiments I have a possible explanation. TuneIn stopped playing radio from the UK some weeks ago, this can be circumvented using a VPN to relocate to London! So I wonder is Google streaming radio using TuneIn on a machine outside Irl so it won't stream RTE to Irl.

I've tried getting Google to play non Irish stations using TuneIn and I get the same behavior (note id you ask Google to play a BBC station it responds with "Playing [station name] from BBC" so BBC stations don't go though TuneIn.  Either way this is functionality that was working fine up until 2 days ago.

I don't care whether its TuineIn or Google's fault but they better get it sorted.

BBC radio works fine for me via BBC. I have a google home nest with a screen which plays radio fine. It seems to be an issue only for google home mini

same problem here in France.. worked fine until yesterday but now tunein wont play anything.

Same for me based in Ireland. Have sent feedback to Google.

Hey folks,

Thanks for raising this concern to the Community.

To confirm from you all, Is this happening to all radio stations from TuneIn? Could you please provide us the cast firmware version of your Nest speakers or displays? If you have yet, please send a feedback report on your Google Nest speaker or display, make sure "Send device usage data and crash reports to Google" is turned on before you submit the feedback.

Thanks,

Alex

I got onto Google support thru below link/chat last Friday, and it seemed to be sorted by Monday. My radio stations in Ireland are all working again thru TuneIn

Still having the issue in Canada.  I asked Google to play a station, Google responds indicating it is playing the requested station on Tune-in, then nothing.  Google Home indicates speaker is playing my requested station and volume is 70%, but no station heard.

Not just in Ireland, and not just recent. This sort of thing has been happening to me in Canada for years. On and off it would work fine. Then for a while, it would play the wrong station every time. Then play nothing for a time, then back to working. Recently I was trying casing from the tunein app on my phone and that no longer works.

They had some posts years ago they were working on it and provided some workarounds. The workarounds no longer work.
They've both known about it for years, but seems like neither one cares.

mine suddenly started working again? can't seem to figure out how/why..

I've tried to be very specific, like:

  • CBC Music Halifax
  • CBC Music Vancouver
  • CBC Music Vancouver on Tune In
  • CBU on Tune In

However, this morning it seems to be working again.

And today, it's not working again.

On one (with screen) - firmware is 1.60.302700

On other two (without screen) - 1.56.282045

The issue occurs on them all.

TuneIn hasn't worked for months in my hub.  Last week it worked for about three days.  Now it doesn't work any more.  What is Google doing?  They keep breaking features and then take months to fix it.  If it gets fixed it's only a short time before it fails again.

New issues this morning:

  • CBC music halifax - instead plays cbc radio one
  • I can play it on my phone on the tune in app
    • When I tried to cast from my phone to the nest, it played CBC radio one instead
    • When I tried to cast from my phone to the mini, it said "this station is not available in your country"

Hi,

It seems that Tune-in is not working anymore on my Google Home Mini.

I send "Hey Google, play <any radio> on TuneIn". I can hear the Tune-in intro twice, but no radio.

Anyone has the same problem?

Thank you

Was working for years over my 5 Google devices. Over the last week it works intermittently; plays the ad, then nothing. We've come to depend on this radio service. I see that it appeared in 2021 for some and was resolved. Hope there's a solution soon

The radio feature does not work at all. (In other respects, the Google home devices continue to function as before) This is a real inconvenience!

As an update to my posts: I shared today that late last week Tune-in started working as it was in the past. I'm interested in whatever changed to accomplish this and hope that things improve for others as well. As I said before, we have relied on google home radio for several years and it was a real inconvenience when it stopped. Things are good now!

The issue appears to have been resolved late last week. I was hoping to see an explanation but we're happy to have things back working. Fingers crossed! Thanks to whoever is responsible for the fix.
