Issue Casting from Pixel 6 to Nest Mini Speaker

I've been having an issue connecting to one of our Nest Mini speakers lately. When I go into my Google Home app on my Pixel 6, I can see the speaker, and when I tell the speaker to play music/news/whatever, I can control volume, pause what is playing, etc. from the Google Home app. It even shows the phone is casting and when I stop casting on the phone, the speaker stops playing.

However, if I am in YouTube Music, and I want to cast from my phone to the mini, it says "No devices found". I tried turning on and off WiFi, turning on and off Internet from my phone completely, turning on and off Bluetooth, rebooting my phone, unplugging the speaker, etc. to no avail. When I am in close proximity to other nest minis or our Nest Hub Max, my phone can see them and cast to them, but not this one speaker. How can this be fixed?

Hi ericptak,

Thanks for all the details you've shared and I can see that you tried some of the steps to try resolving this. Could you please send us a screenshot of what's the exact display you're getting every time you try to cast using YouYube Music? Also, have you already tried performing a complete reset? If not, here's how: https://goo.gle/3x50Yl7

Keep us posted.

Hello,

I tried a reset on the Nest Mini speaker. I actually had to reset it several times in order to get it to connect to our Google Home and our WiFi. We do have a set of Google WiFi routers, and I know I do not have an issue with WiFi strength in the room where the speaker is located.

Once I was able to successfully reset the speaker, I was able to connect to it for a short period. I had to pause my music for a meeting. When I tried reconnecting, my phone showed I was casting to it but the sound was coming from my phone and not the speaker. I stopped casting, and then tried again with the same result. I then rebooted my Pixel, and it went back to saying " No devices found." When I tried to connect to the speaker.

Hello ericptak,

Chiming in, have you tried using a different phone/tablet to cast? How far are you from the Nest Mini when you're casting? Also, are you using a dual-band router?

Cheers,

Muddi

Hello,

I only have my Pixel 6. I used to have a Pixel 3, and that gave no issues. We have a dual band gigabyte router. Normally, I am only a few feet from the speaker, and that has never been a problem.  None of our other speakers (we have 2 other Nest Minis and a Nest Hub Max) have this issue.

Today I noticed that even though I can ask this speaker to play music, or play the news, or tell me about the weather, I cannot see it in the Google Home app.

Hi ericptak,

How many devices are connected to your router? Also, what is the firmware version of your Nest Mini?

Cheers,

Muddi

We have a number of things connected to our internet, from solar panels to AC to computers, laptops, phones, lights and TV. At any given time, we might have 15-20 devices connected to either our main network or guest network. With that being said, we do have a gigabyte connection with our provider (Fios). I do not think that is the issue.

The system firmware is 324896

The cast firmware is 1.56.324896

Of course, yesterday it was working fine, and today, back to "No devices found".

Sorry for the delayed answer, but I've been busy with work, and on weekends, we don't typically use this speaker. I will say that Friday, it started acting "normal", but I don't know if some sort of update was pushed server-side, or if one of the many updates to apps on my phone had anything to do with it.
