Mi mini starts, but is not seen

I’m trying to setup a mini that I’ve had sitting around for a while. The location is set up, and I’ve had no problems with attaching other devices. When I plug in the mini, the white lights come on and blink in a sequence. But the Google Home app on my phone doesn’t see it when I try to add a device. I’ve been unable to get the mini to make any sounds.

Is there something I’ve missed? Or is this device broken?

I’ve had to reset minis if they’ve been used previously and some of them aren’t very easy to reset my guess is the older ones. But if you use the mini and then it sat around for a while, then it won’t connect you try to connect it again, you most likely need to reset it.  I just went out and did a search on how do I reset my Google mini and there was plenty of information available.   I can’t even remember how to do it at the moment. Best of luck.

Hi folks,

@StevieStevie, thanks for the help.

@Kitos, it's a good thing you're trying to set up your Nest speaker again. Let me help you through it. Since it's been sitting around for a while, a factory reset is needed to revert it back to its default and original settings, making it easier to set up. We first need to determine if what you have is a Google Home Mini or a Nest Mini. The Nest Mini has a hole at the bottom in which you can use to mount in on a wall. Depending on what you have, check out this guide on how to factory reset your device.

Keep us posted.

Best,

Dan

Thank you both. It is a Google Home Mini, not the Nest-branded mini. I followed the instructions which told me to hold down the reset button for 5 seconds, then 10 seconds more, after which it should say something. I held it down for a full 60 seconds. A green light lit up on the top of the device,, but it never said anything, and my phone didn't see it.

Then I tried the troubleshooting steps, which involve unplugging it, waiting 10 seconds, plugging it back in until four lights come on, and repeating that process 10 times. At the end of that the speaker didn't speak and was unaffected by my voice, and my phone still does not find it.

Anything else I can try?

Hey there,

Thank you for doing the provided steps, and more! Hats off to you. What is the status of the LED lights right now? Are they solid, blinking or slowly pulsing? What color is it showing? There's one more thing I wanted to confirm, when you press the reset button now, does it only show a single green light or a green light with 3 white lights?

I'll be waiting for your response.

Cheers,

Dan

Green and white together. It goes through a sequence of 2,3,0 and then 2 again white lights.

Hi Kitos,

Thanks for trying the steps. Do you still remember when and where did you purchase your Google Nest Mini so we can check your warranty options?

Best,

Princess
