My Google Home Mini keeps saying the mic is off, the mic is on, over and over.

My 1st gen Google Home mini keeps saying the mic is off, even though I have never touched the on/off switch (except probably to turn it on when I first purchased the device). I have tried unplugging it for a minute, then plugging it back in. I have tried resetting the device, and setting it back up as a new device. Strangely enough, the problem seems to get worse at night, with the device loudly announcing that the mic is off, mic is on, over and over, until I disconnect it again.

Is this a lost cause, and should I just replace it? I bought it in late 2018, so it is definitely out of warranty.

Hi, Alex. I filled out the form… even though I thought I was pretty thorough in explaining the problem and the troubleshooting I attempted, when I created the thread in the first place. Look forward to a reply. Thanks!

I’m not sure what the purpose of the email was, other than to have a bot send me a troubleshooting link to a problem I didn’t describe, and then circle back to the troubleshooting attempt I initially mentioned did not work for me. I would prefer to keep this conversation here, so that I can crowdsource tips that are actually helpful. Googling this issue, it seems that a lot of people have had this happen to them with their devices.
