Hi, took delivery of the Nest Audio speaker last week. I've noticed the audio is crackling while playing music (tested Spotify and YouTube Music). Also tried both apps via the cast feature and while connected via Bluethooth. Same result in all conditions - random audio crackling / popping.

There is. I solution. I spent weeks working with multiple levels of technical support, sending in multiple videos of the sound, and even switching my wifi mesh from eero to Google….eventually Google support just stopped responding back and the problem still persists. Ruins an otherwise great speakee

I have a pair of Nest audios and a pair of Nest minis. Only minis have this problem in my house.
I should try to swap their location to check if it will happen on Nest audios.
But it's too anoying.

I`ve got several different units (three nest hubs with display, three nest audio and four connected audio cast dongles). Only one of the nest audio units have this problem, and if I connect one of the others to the same stream the crackling can be heard on the other unit also. However - if I start the stream on another unit - the other unit streams without crackle, if I then connect the troubling nest audio to the same stream - the crackle can be heard on the nest audio - but not on the other unit??
Have tried to reset all units and wifi routers but the problem persists. Have also checked signal reception on all units - and all units have excellent reception.

Same trouble here with a first gen. Mini. It began tonight.

Just started having this issue with my Google mini too. Playing Audio is fine unless you are trying to cast anything to it.

Hello! I am surprised that you had popping and crackling sounds issues using Youtube Music. I had the same sound problem using Spotify but after migrating to Youtube Music the annoying sounds disappeared. I wondered If you used Youtube music free of charge or with a paid flat rate. Cause I am using Youtube premium at the present time and I don’t have any problems according to bad sounds. Regards.

Hello everyone!
I’m using two nest minis (2nd gen) and one Nest speaker (mid sized one, also i dont know why they dont name it more distinctively cos there is google max also) and absolutely have the crackling sounds. I red all the topic it is unbelievible that they did not offer any solution still for almost a year! It is unrespectful! I really enjoy sound quality and google assistant funcionality but that sound ruins everything.

I understand your disappointment concerning this issue, popping and crackling sounds. I have tried so many things to fix the problem and there’s one thing that fonctionne for me. I moved toward « YOUTUBE MUSIC » platform. I recommend to try it at least for the free period and see what happen.

Brand new Nest Audio, bought 2 weeks ago, no stereo pair or speaker group, after a few days being plugged in it will crackle, doesn't matter which song is playing or from where. My old Google Home was plugged to the same outlet, same wifi network in the exact locations and never heard any crackling noise. Issue dissapears after a reboot, it's not a loose cable it's software. Please fix it, I already returned a nest hub for how buggy it was snd the random reboots, now I was planning on buying a second nest audio but I might have to return this one and I do not want to buy an echo dot alexa is stupid.
Please fix the issue, or at least let us program a nightly reboot from the google home app!

It's 2022 and the issue still persist. Shame on you, Google. Shamefulness!
I own 5 nest minis, 1 nest hub and 2 nest audios, and I can confirm this will happen 100% of the time if you pair any unit with another, Stereo is totally unusable in the current state.

I have 2 nest Max, 2nest hub max, 2 nest hub, and 7 other nest speakers. This issue, among many others (volume control from your phone volume button, speaker group details, speaker group volume via voice), began as soon as they lost the Sonos lawsuit regarding unlicensed use of Sonos technology. The Google people probably all know this but can't talk about it. As a development leader (not with Google) it's pretty obvious that they were relying heavily on code that infringed on the Sonos patents and now many aspects of the system are suffering. No one in Google leadership is taking ownership of the problem, centralizing a response, and giving clear direction for a systematic approach to rebuild the features we all had before the lawsuit.
