Nest Max Hub oddities

ok first let me share, there was no issue in the menu tree for my issues. My hope is to see if anyone else has dealt with the things that have happened to me. Both through the Hub and now a brand new Hub Max, This started several months ago. Voices in the night loud, voices. Shocking me awake in my home. The worst part. I have disabled and I have a neighbor that has assaulted and threatened to kill me in my sleep.  But by the time I get up and go to see, no sounds no nothing. This happened for a weeks, I thought it my be someone yelling in my windows etc.  Thus I laid off the VA pills and managed to stay awake on night. What I discovered was a commercial playing at full volume an ad for switching from saying hello google or hey google to do a task with the unit. To using facial recognition.  Funny thing after finding this, it stopped for a couple of days. Then started back again.  But when I stayed awake and could be seen by the camera it didn't happen.  NEst support did switch the unit and the first 24hrs was awesome. It played music without stopping. Didn't have the bloody commercial they pushed. But after 24hrs it started again and now it randomly plays mood music, fires crackling, ads for odd things etc. None of these activities show up on the app as well. It's annoying to have something work for years and suddenly this happens. I have to unplug it at now. Thus if someone does break in, they are not caught on camera. We b searches have returned no matching results.

Hi RitchEdwards,

Thanks for posting in the Community.

We're sorry to hear that you're experiencing this with your Google Nest speakers. We'd like to make sure that we have addressed your concerns by answering these questions:

  • Aside from you, are there any other accounts/users linked to your Google Nest speaker?
  • Do you remember creating a routine from the Home app?
  • Have you already tried performing a complete reset to your devices?

If reset has not been done, let's try it first and see if this would make any difference. Here's how: https://goo.gle/32c7nIF

Looking forward to your response.

[2-0617000034607] Your Google Support Inquiry: Case ID. This is my support ID number. This is been going on for several months. It is not speakers. It first started with the Google Hub that came with my Nest system which they replaced and within 24 hours of getting the Hub Max which worked perfectly as it should for 24 hours the symptoms started again. I knew Oddity is now the moment I walk in the kitchen from the garage it starts doing weird things. I have set up no routines I have never asked it to play ambient music. It just randomly does this stuff. The fact that I can stand outside my kitchen dining room area and that thing not do anything for 2 hours and the moment I walk in it starts doing weird stuff. Has me convinced that it is eavesdropping on me. The microphone is only to be on and listening for keywords either hey Google or hello Google or ok google. The fact that I walk into the area that it's at and it starts the stuff and only when I'm in here. FYI I reside alone no other humans in this house. And it starts doing this stuff tells me it's listening for human voices or human-like movements. As I type this it has started playing that Bloody commercial trying to push facial recognition instead of talking to it. Which I've opted out of so much it no longer pops up on my phone to opt out of it. I have shared videos of them doing this nothing shows up on the routines and the home app nothing shows up on the other routine tracker in the settings of the home app. Other things it does when it starts playing music randomly it will play it without commercials for hours. But if I ask it to play music it will stop after three songs. So let me give you an example I ask it to play Beethoven. It will play halfway through the music video or song and have two or three commercials in it if I asked it to Play It Again the same thing. I keep asking support through emails why they cannot see the traffic going through this device. I spent 14 years in networking setting up server farms. I know if they could do it in 2004 they should be able to do it now. They know the exact date and time to the second. Even though it's activities that it does does not show up inactivities. Where I tell it to exit or to stop does show up so they know exactly when to look. And as of last week I am seeing this as a personal attack. Furthermore yes people have asked me why do you keep using the system. Well that's because I am on a set income I invested heavily into the system. It has worked properly for a few years now until this past spring. Honestly believe that is actually someone overseas as in your own support. The bulk of the activity is after midnight East Coast time and stops around 7:00 a.m. with sporadic stuff in the evenings. Well guess what that's the same time you're overseas support goes into work. Why they won't simply pull up the identification numbers for this device see where it's at on the network and see why this is happening I'll never know. It is their ad they have seen videos of this ad pushing facial recognition which is what started this Fiasco off. Is coming from them. I do not understand why they will not admit that hey we know this is going on. And make it stop the option was to opt out of it and I chose not to use facial recognition.

Hi there,

Apologies for the late response. Google's Privacy Policy explains what information we collect; why we collect it; and how you can update, manage, export, and delete your information, including when you interact with the Google Assistant. Learn more about Assistant and your privacy where we explain how your audio data is handled when you interact with the Assistant using a Google connected home device, as well as the controls available to you. You can review and update your Google Account settings anytime to choose what you share with your Assistant.

Google Assistant is designed to wait in standby mode until it detects an activation, like when it hears "Hey Google." In standby mode, the device processes short snippets of audio (a few seconds) to detect an activation (such as "Hey Google"). If no activation is detected, then those audio snippets won't be sent or saved to Google. Once it detects an activation, Assistant exits standby mode and sends your request to Google servers. This can, for example, happen if there is a noise that sounds like "Hey Google," or an unintended manual activation.

The status indicator on your device lets you know when Google Assistant is activated. To help keep you in control, we're constantly working to make Assistant better at reducing unintended activation.

By the way, have you already tried performing a complete reset to your device?

Best,

Princess

Hello RitchEdwards,

Thanks for responding. Is there a way you can take a short clip of what's happening so we can see and compare it from our end? We'd like to further check what's causing this to happen.

Looking forward to your response.

This is the first video I recorded of it. The video just started playing on its own this has been a few weeks ago and it does this randomly with ambient songs and sounds as well. I would also like to point out that I emailed support once again in the continuing email chain asking why can't they monitor this device when they have the identification number and no the IP address on my Google area network as long as my wide area network. https://youtu.be/RD50AVY64Bc?si=uruBs318OU5TRAvQ. ( please ignore the condition of the house it was inherited and I'm working on trying to make it better )

Hey there,

Thanks for the info you sent. Do you still remember when and where did you purchase your Google Nest Hub Max so we can also check its warranty options?

Best,

Princess
