Nest hub photo frame not showing personal data

BPrasil
Community Member

I seem to be unable to show personal data on my photo frame despite trying the various fixes posted previously. Has anyone got to the bottom of this issue yet?  Please don't just send links on how to display photos as I am already familiar with the function and know how to change the settings.

Hi BPrasil,

Thanks for reaching out. Could you tell us what kind of personal data are you trying to show using the Nest Hub Photo frame? We’d like to know more about it.

Regards,

Juni

Thanks for the reply.  I am referring to the "Personal photo data" option in Photo Frame that is meant to "Show photo information such as album name, photo date, photo location and more".  Even though I have the option turned on for my Nest Hub Gen 2 and there is data contained in the photos it does not display.  Its the same issue as reported in "https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Speakers-and-Displays/Google-Nest-Hub-not-displaying-Personal... and "https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Speakers-and-Displays/Photo-information-location-not-displaye... but there doesn't seem to have been a solution posted yet.

Hi there,

Got it. From which country are you contacting us from? What language are you using on your Google Assistant settings? If you are in the United States (US) with Assistant set to US English (EN) language you can use the Personal photo data feature.

By default, photos displays information like album name, photo date, photo location, and more. Check out the steps below on how to show it or hide it:

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. Tap the Nest display and then Settings Settings and then Photo frame.
  3. Select Google Photos and then Scroll to Personal photo data.
  4. Set Personal photo data to Show or Hide.

Juni

I am in Australia.  Did you even read my post????  I have gone through all the settings and it does not work.  I have also tried resetting the system.  It used to work when I first set it up but it stopped some time ago and won't do it any more.  I can see others have had the same issue and you don't seem to be able to resolve it.  I get the impression you are not very knowledgeable in this area and just keep sprouting the standard reply because you don't know how to fix the issue.  Are you able to provide any other solutions other than regurgitating the original set up instructions?

Hi folks,

BPrasil, thanks for the details you’ve shared. Personal photo data is a feature available in the US. If it worked before, there is a possibility that this might be available in your area soon, but we don’t have any news to share for now. We are glad you enjoyed the feature. We appreciate people who are keen on sharing their thoughts with us. We're always looking for ways to improve.I'd suggest you submit feedback about it. See the article below on how to do it.

Share feedback about Google Nest

kluberg, thanks for posting. Are you located in the US? If you are and your language is already set to US English (EN), try to reboot your Google Nest Hub and observe if it makes a difference.

Can you show me where it states this function is limited to the US.  If it's not available in Aus then I would have thought it wouldn't show up on the menu.  I suspect you are clutching at straws.

Hi there,

BPrasil, apologies for the delays. You can visit the article about Photo frame on your Google Nest display; under "Other Photo frame settings" shows the "Personal photo data" information. We’re listening to all suggestions and feedback from our users. Don’t hesitate to send feedback as it helps us improve our product.

kluberg, let us know if we can help you with anything else.

Sincerely,
Alex

Hahahaha. Are you a bot programmed to regurgitate the same old thing without reading the post?

Hey BPrasil,

I'm sorry that you feel that way. The article above is where you can find the information that the feature will only work in the US. Like Juni said, there's a possibility that the feature will be available in more supported countries—a possible reason why it worked temporarily—but we have no news yet to share when it will be fully accessible other than the US.

Alex

I'm sure that note has only recently been added.  I don't get why the feature is shown in the settings of the hub when it isn't available in the country for which the hub has been set up in.  Very disappointed.  Thanks for pointing this out.

Hello BPrasil,

We appreciate your honest thoughts about this and we'll surely take this as a feature request. Feel free to send us a feedback regarding this and for any feature you'd like to be available on Google Nest speakers. Let's all hope that these features will be available soon in other parts of the globe.

Best,

Princess

I have the same issue and I am in the US. It used to show date and location but now it only shows the album it is in. The date was one of the best features. YES, SHOW PERSONAL DATA IS TURNED ON. The other chrome casts in the house continue to show date and location. It is only a problem with the nest hub max.

Hi foolioJones,

Thanks for posting. I know how it feels when something isn’t working as it should. What Chromecast device are we working with? When did it begin? Were there any recent changes made before it started? Give the steps below a try and let me know how it goes:

  1. Plug in your Chromecast into a different HDMI port on your TV.
  2. Reboot your TV and Wi-Fi router.
  3. Reset your Chromecast device.

Regards,

Juni
