Hiya Mppp!

Thanks for reaching out to our community

Here are a couple of suggestions that will help you out so your Nest Mini doesn't forget its settings anymore.

My recommendation would be to power cycle your Nest Mini by Unplugging it from the wall outlet and leaving it unplugged for about a minute. Then, plug it back in and wait for it to restart completely. Restarting it can often fix minor problems.

If power cycling your Nest Mini doesn't work, doing a Factory reset manually would be the next step to take. This will erase all data and settings from your Nest Mini. Before proceeding, be sure to back up anything important. The reset process depends on the generation of your Nest Mini. You can find instructions on how to factory reset your specific speaker in this article about Performing a Factory Reset on Nest Speakers.

Inspect your Nest Mini for damaged buttons or components while performing the factory reset or restart. Any button that might be stuck could be causing unintended factory resets.

Keep me posted if these steps work for you.

Regards,

Angel.

Hi Angel, thanks for the suggestions.

After a factory reset and trying to add the device via the home app, the final step doesn't complete and the app says it didn't work. However the nest joins the wifi and responds to questions for around a day before losing settings

Hiya Mppp,

Thanks for getting back to me!

There's a chance this might be mostly related to the pairing process between your Nest Mini and the Google Home app. Since the setup isn't going smoothly, I was wondering if you have some phone settings that won't allow the setup to finish.

Some phone manufacturers include features that could interrupt the connection during pairing. These features might have names like "Network Switching" or "Wi-Fi+" – if they're enabled, they could interrupt the setup.

Another factor to consider is the distance between your Nest Mini and your Wi-Fi router. Ideally, they should be fairly close during the initial setup process.

Let me know what you find.

Regards,

Angel.
