Prioritize Android phone for Google Assistant.

Hi...

I have an Android phone. When I am holding it in my hand and say "Hey Google" it responds but if I set an alarm or make another request, the alarm is set or request is fulfilled by the nearby Google Nest in whatever room I am in.

This is not helpful.

How do I prioritize the phone over all other Google devices?

Thank you.

Hi GreggeGregg,

Thanks for reaching out. If you say “Hey Google” near two or more devices, such as your Google Nest or Home device and your Pixel Tablet or phone, multiple devices might turn on. Only one of the devices should respond. Check out the helpful link below to know more about it.

Multiple devices respond to "Hey Google"

Selecting a specific device to do a certain task is not available. We appreciate people who are keen on sharing their thoughts with us. We're always looking for ways to improve. I'd suggest you submit feedback about it. See the article below on how to do it.

I already saw this page and did everything it suggested. Google Assistant still ignores the device which is closest -- LITERALLY IN MY HAND! - and uses a Google Nest across the room. Every time.

If there is no fix for this, then shame on Google for not finding a way for users to priortize devices.

Actually, there is a fix. I will turn off the mic on all my Google Nests and buy Alexas to use as a voice assistant, instead.

Hi there,

We recognize the value of utilizing this feature. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and leaving a post. Right now, the best option is to submit feedback using the link in this thread.

Thanks,

Juni

I have an idea! Why don't YOU submit the feedback since you say you recognize the value of the suggestion AND you get paid to work for Google! I don't get paid to work for Google, so why are you delegating to me? Hint: We are the customers, remember?

Just to follow up. I started turning off the mics on my Google Nests...and then trying to use Assistant with my Android phone in my hand. Guess what? The Google Nest THREE ROOMS AWAY will respond before the phone in my phone does. Solution 1: Get iPhone. Solution 2: Get Alexa. Solution 3: Get Eero. I mean, really. How much do you have to suck Google, before you fix things?

This is a lie:

Our team is working hard to deliver the best experience for our users.

Update: Just bought Amazon's Eero Pro 6E. Working to rid myself of Nest, since they're not compatible with your own **bleep**ing Android phones. **bleep** you, Google.
