RADIO ALARMS NO LONGER WORK

Thksnow
Community Member

I have a Nest Hub which I have set up as a bedroom alarm clock with alarms which play one of my local FM radio stations. It has worked fine for months playing the local FM radio station via TuneIn. A few months ago the alarms started playing one of the standard alarm sounds as opposed to the radio station. I factory reset the hub and put in new alarms for the radio station and now it plays the radio station at the alarm time (see picture) but when you hit snooze or cancel it just keeps playing the radio station. You can verbally tell it to stop playing and it will, but if you pressed snooze originally it will come back on 10 mins later. Has anyone else seen this problem and does anyone know how to solve it?  I've sent in data under a previous post, but after lots of back and forth with some Google folks they have now gone silent and have not produced a fix.  Come on Google!!!!

Hey folks,

Sorry for the delays. Seems like we've been seeing quite an increase in reports around this issue and thanks for sharing your feedback on this thread. The team would love your help to look into this issue further. In order for the team to explore further, we need to gather additional feedback from affected customers.

You can send feedback from your Google Home/Nest device by saying, "Hey Google, send feedback." While you're sharing your feedback, it's important to use the keywords, "Radio Alarms not working". For more instructions on how to send feedback, check this out.

Also, please provide the following information below as this will help us further investigate the issue:

  • When did the issue start?
  • What country are you located in?
  • What Google Home/Nest device do you have?
  • What is the current firmware version?
  • Is it happening to a specific station/radio provider?

Looking forward to your response.

Cheers,

Muddi

I have the exact same problem with my nest mini. Alarm repeats on weekdays only. It only plays the radio on the first instance of the alarm after setup. On days after that its just an alarm.

I also have this problem! It’s making me so frustrated. And as soon as I tell the alarm to stop, my radio station is playing behind it?! Tried everything, please help google. The standard alarm is awful and quiet. You’re making me late for work!! 😞

Hi everyone,

Thanks for bringing this up.

We're sorry to hear that you're experiencing this. Could anyone confirm here if this happens specifically when you try to create media alarms using radio? Can you please try to create an alarm using other music service? Please give these steps a try: https://goo.gle/3C7PzT5

Let us know how it goes.

Best,

Only care about radio. FIX YOUR RADIO ALARM PROBLEM!!!

Princess -  This is the same problem I first reported under the "Radio alarms don't work like they did before" thread back in July 2022.  Please review that thread, in which various people provided all the info and data you guys requested.  We were promised that Google was working on it.

Its been over 3 months and there's still no solution.  Google can reproduce this problem just as easily as we can, so we need an update that solves the problem, not a request for more data from us!  I'm going to look into other company's devices as it seems clear that Google either can't or won't restore this basic capability (which it had when we bought them) to its devices.

Getting so fed up with google I actually started looking at alternatives to my google door bell, then move away from Android (which, I guess, means ios), and fade out this cr@p that is poorly supported and the users are always the testers......and expected to come up with the fixes.

You're really losing it Google !

I might have just got very lucky or this is a fix..

I just had to set up my nest to a new internet provider. It was like I was setting it up as a new device, and as of this morning, it works with a radio alarm again.

as I say, I might have just got lucky, but it seems to be working again.

That's interesting, but can you actually snooze the radio alarm and it actually stops a d starts again after the snooze period?  I just tested mine again and, as before, it will play the radio station, but just keeps playing when you hot snooze.

Nope. ˝Reset to original˝was Google's only attempt to help. I even upgraded from v1 to v2. TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY AND TIME!!!

Same issue here . I can set alarm to play radio station, but only the standard alarm sound goes off at the time. It used to work months ago ,  why does this basic clock radio function no longer work   google ? I have reset and tried it on different nest hubs to no avail.

I have the same problem where my Google Nest Hub (gen. 2) will not set a radio alarm.  It has been like this for at least a couple of months, and is beyond frustrating.  Google support just doesn't care about these sort of issues.  I have always been a huge Google and Android fan, but quite honestly I am losing my patience with Google and their lack of innovation and proper support.  I will not defect to iOS unless my life depended on it, but I am seriously considering making the switch to Amazon Alexa products.  Have you seen all of the cool stuff they have come out with?  Meanwhile Google is still pushing the same old stuff they have had for years.  And even us loyal Google followers that continue to buy their outdated technology, Google doesn't even provide a decent level of support.  I cannot even count on a Google device to wake me up in time to go to work in the morning.  How pathetic is that?  Come on Google, get your $#!+ together!  Either you need to put more R&D and customer service resources into the home automation field, or just admit defeat and step out of the arena.  You have had years to dip your toes in the water, so get in there and swim or get out of the pool! 😒

Totally agree.  We have gotten no software updates attempting to fix this problem after months of complaints by many users on multiple threads.  To me it shows that Google doesn't care.  Time to move on to something else.  I'm looking at the Amazon Echo Show devices now, since they have radio alarm capability and actually work!

Totally agree - Google Hubs and Door bell heading for eBay

Hi folks,

Apologies for the delayed response. I'm chiming in to see if you're still having the same concern with the radio alarms?

Best regards,

Dan

It's obvious that you Google folks don't care about fixing thos problem at all.  4 weeks to get a response to the latest comment shouldn't be surprising considering I first reported it at least 4 MONTHS ago, without any attempt to fix it from Google.  Unbelievable and I, like Hammer, have given up.  Very sad and disappointing Google. Don't ask us again whether it's working, as you can test it as well as we can.  Let us know if you ever think you've fixed it.  And the problem is detailed in my first post on this thread, so don't be confused by others who just have an issue setting the radio alarm.

Hammmer

Thanks for chiming in but, as no one has done anything to resolve the issue it's hardly surprising that it's still a (BIG) issue.

How about letting us know that Google are actually recognising the problem and doing something about it - because, it sure looks like they're doing absolutely nothing.

Given this lack of product support, I will not be buying a Pixel anytime soon

I agree with Hammmer - Why are you guys asking us to do this again and again?  Read my original post in this thread.  This has been going on way too long and you guys don't seem to be doing anything to fix it - why not???

I can't believe not a single google developer hasn't noticed this. Don't they use this device? Why do we need to keep sending all this information when all you need to do is set a radio alarm and verify that it doesn't work.

Magmo

When I set an music alarm that play from Spotify it start the song as it should on the time I set, but if I snooze and after 10 min it start to play default built in sound instead of the music I set for the alarm.

Hi Magmo,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community.

This is not the experience that we wanted you to have, let me help you out. A few things: which Nest speaker/display are we working with? Is this feature working before or this is the first time that you are using it? Do you have another Nest speaker/display? If so, is the issue happening on the other devices too?

You can do a sequential reboot. First, unplug your Nest speaker/display for 30 seconds, then do the same thing to your Wi-Fi router to refresh both devices and your Wi-Fi signal.

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,

Juni

Hello, I only have one Nest unit and it’s the Google Nest 2 gen. This is the first time trying this. Also it does not help to restart the unit and router. If I understand you correctly you verify that it is a bug since it supposed to work as I thought
