The Google Next Hub Max is not a solution for parents

As a parent of an adult child with an ID (intellectual disability) I thought the Google Nest Hub Max would be my answer to helping my child navigate every day but I was very wrong. And I didn't discover this until it was way too late to return everything I bought.

I chose Google over the main competitor that's headquartered in Seattle and starts with A because I did not want A in my house, after what A pulled with the "Sidewalk" stunt.

I saw a TikTok of an adult with an IDD whose family set him up on an A device that was set to show him his daily chores, tasks, calendars, pages to assist with other tasks, emergency contacts etc. Everything we'd like for our son. Mistakenly I thought that the Nest Hub Max would do the same but it does almost nothing. Can't delete unnecessary cards, can't add Tasks, but CAN view Reminders which Google is doing away with (seriously, what?) In any case, cannot add calendar or tasks to main screen.

This brick sitting next to me has SO MUCH POTENTIAL for families and for people with special needs, but as it is, it's a very expensive brick that does nothing you can't do through Google Home or Assistant on your phone.

PLEASE GOOGLE make this actually useable for families and people with special needs, there's a huge market out there waiting for you to fix this.

@GiangNgo, thanks for reaching out, check the steps below on how you can set up Duo for video calling on your Nest display.

  1. On your mobile device, open the Google Home app .
  2. Touch and hold your device's tile.
  3. At the top right, tap Settings and then Voice & video calls and then Call Providers and then Duo.
  4. Follow the in-app instructions for set up.
