Thermostat in the Nest Hub Gen 2.

Am I correct in saying the Nest Hub Gen 2 is capable of detecting room temperature? It appears so, as the Sleep “Quality” screen shows a temperature reading which is always higher than the external temperature, making me think it’s an ambient temperature readout.

If this is correct, why can’t a user simply ask “What is the room (or ambient) temperature?” at any time of day/night?

We shouldn’t need to wait until after a night’s sleep to see the room temperature. & we also shouldn’t need to purchase a seperate Google-enabled thermostat for the room, if there’s one built into the Nest Hub.

Is it possible that it could be unlocked for 24/7 use in a future firmware update?

Effectivement, je ne comprends pas pourquoi nous n'avons pas accès à cette information.

Hi folks,

Thanks for reaching out. I totally understand what you wanted to happen, however this would not be possible as Google Nest display and speakers are only capable of just controlling the thermostats as well as other home automation devices that are compatible to it.

Also, for more info about sleep sensing, you may check it on this link: https://goo.gle/3F1edGk

Feel free to respond if you have other questions.

Hi Princesss. I think you may have missed my point here - I’m not after CONTROL of the temperature. I’m just after a READOUT of the room temperature by the Nest Hub 2.

The link you provided mentions “Other sensors in Nest Hub (2nd gen) detect sounds like snoring and coughing and environmental factors like light and temperature in the room.”

& hence my original query that if the device is able to detect room temperature, then why can’t users as Google Assistant what the room temperature is & be provided with a response?

Thanks.
