“Unable to enable pairing mode” when attempting to pair iPhone to google next audio speaker.

Hi. I’m attempting to connect my iPhone to my google nest audio speaker.  My husbands android is connected, as is our iPad.  When I attempt to connect my iPhone via the google home app I get the error - Unable to enable pairing mode.

When I attempt via a voice command it says to try again in a bit. I’ve waited, tried again - no luck.

When I re-boot the speaker and reconnect everything I can connect my phone, but then I get the same error on my iPad.

Hi Kilomike911,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community.

This is not the experience that we wanted you to have, let me help you out. Are you trying to connect your phone to your speaker via Bluetooth? If so, check the steps below.

Step 1. From the Google Home app.

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. Touch and hold the tile of the device you want to pair.
  3. Tap Settings and then Audio and then Paired Bluetooth devices and then Enable Pairing Mode.

Step 2. From your mobile device's Bluetooth settings

  1. On your mobile device's Home screen, tap Settings and then Bluetooth.
  2. Turn on Bluetooth On.
  3. Tap the name of the speaker or display you'd like to pair.

Check this link for more information.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,

Juni

These are exactly the steps I’m following but I get an error message - Unable to enable pairing.

Hi Kilomike911,

Thanks for confirming and I’m sorry that you are still experiencing the issue. You can try to do a sequential reboot. First, unplug your Nest Audio for 30 seconds, then do the same thing to your Wi-Fi router to refresh both devices and your Wi-Fi signal.Once booted up try it again. Also to further isolate the issue try to use another phone and see if it will make a difference.

Keep me posted.

Best,

Juni
