Dear Vinit,

I am from Kolkata and facing the same issue of broken glass of Nest Hub (2nd Gen).

I found that Google does not sell any replacement glass. The replacement screen is listed in AliExpress, but again it does not ship to India.

I explored the local electronics market here, but could not find a single repairing shop which is able replace the screen.  I think you can take a chance by going to Nehru Place market, which perhaps is the only place where you have a slender chance of getting the replacement screen.  Otherwise, I fear that we might have to buy new ones.

Hey everyone,

Thanks for visiting the Community.

Sorry to hear that your Google Nest Hub screen is broken. Could you tell us how the screen got damaged? Please note that Google does not have a service center in India, nor do we sell parts for the Nest display. I suggest that you check with your local service center to see if they can replace the screen of your device. Also, for your security, please remove any personal contact details from your post.

Cheers,

Muddi

Hey folks,

Due to inactivity, I'll go ahead and lock this thread in 24 hours. Feel free to start a new thread if you need assistance with your Google Nest devices and we'd be glad to assist you further.

Best,

Princess

It's not been even 24 hours since the last post and you are in a hurry to lock this thread stating inactivity. What's the hurry my friend? Let the other users speak on this issue.

The users must know that Google is selling products in this country with almost zero after sales service. If something goes wrong after the warranty period, we have to buy new devices because there is no chance of repairing, as of now.

So please be active on some other relevant issues dear Princess.

Hi,

It means we throw it in the dustbin because after the sale google not providing any solution in India.

We will talk to the consumer court what is the parameter requirements against after-sale service.

I think we can definitely consider the consumer forum option. I wonder how Google is allowed to sell these products without zero after sale service.

@Vinitpratap, thanks — we got your form and we've escalated it over to our higher level of support for further review. Please keep an eye on your inbox as someone will get back in touch with you soon.

@sayantdas, how was it? Does it work the same as your old speaker?

Best,

Princess

@Princesss The replacement screen is in transit now, subjected to custom clearance I guess. The tracking portal says that it should reach within 16 July (I ordered on 21 June) . As soon as I install it by replacing the broken screen, I will share an update here.

Hi sayantdas,

How was your device now?Are you able to change the screen?

Cheers,

Muddi

yes, it's working properly but due to the screen, we are not using it. I m waiting for your positive answer otherwise I will know the Indian consumer court.

waiting for your prompt reply.

regards.

vinit

Please refer to my general reply. Meanwhile, we can still go to the consumer court as they are selling the product without any after sales service, thereby misleading the buyers.

Hey everyone,

We appreciate how you love using your Nest Hub (2nd gen). We know that accidents happen sometimes that result in our devices being broken.  As much as we wanted to provide a replacement for the glass, we can't do that because Google doesn't sell a replacement screen.

We have our authorized service center in India that caters replacement for Google Home and Nest devices that are still in warranty. Also, Google's limited warranty doesn't cover the damaged screen due to misuse. You can always visit Google Consumer Hardware Limited Warranty – India for more information.

We know this is not the best answer that you're looking for, but let us know if you still have other questions otherwise, I'll be locking this after 24 hours.

Cheers,

Muddi

Dear Muddi,

I think you misinterpreted the raised matter of after sales services. The broken screen is one issue that cannot be covered by the warranty service, even a layman knows it. Our point is, why there shouldn't be any replacement screen available that can be purchased and installed? Forget about broken screen, even things like LCD/ motherboard/speaker/microphone malfunction, or charger issues might occur after using the device beyond the warranty period without any mishandling. So what is the solution Google offer? Should we throw the device into the garbage and buy a new one every time? Pardon for my strong words, but this is absolutely ridiculous. And just to remind once again, the warranty of my device was already exhausted at the time of screen break.

Besides, I think you did not follow my posts related to the purchased replacement screen from eBay that is yet to reach me. As soon as it reaches, I would replace the screen and share the feedback with the other users here.

Why you guys are always in a hurry to lock the thread? Is there any deadline or something? Then what is the point of having the community threads? This is as perplexing as Google's after sales policy.

Hi sayantdas,

I understand your point. We always strive to assist our customers to the best of our abilities, even if the device is out of warranty. However, there are certain cases where we may not have control over the situation, particularly if the device has been damaged. Your feedback is valuable to us.

As Community Specialists, we occasionally perform housekeeping tasks to ensure that the conversations in our community remain fresh and relevant. This may involve locking threads after a period of inactivity or once we have provided a resolution.

Moving forward, I will keep this thread open for you. Please feel free to update us once you have received and installed the replacement screen for your Nest Hub.

Cheers,

Muddi

Thank you dear.

The item has reached my city yesterday, as found from the tracking of the postal service. Therefore, it should not take long to reach me. I can understand that people are waiting for my feedback on this. Hopefully I will share the feedback by this weekend.

Hey Owais,

Chiming in, could you share a photo showing the screen of your Nest Hub? Please note that Google does not provide replacements for devices that have been damaged due to mishandling or any damage caused by the customer.

Cheers,

Meanwhile, I found a replacement screen at eBay. That has to be imported from China. It costs around USD 35-40 including shipping charges.

Dear all, the package is yet to reach me. According to the last update, it has reached Guangzhou, Guangdong Port (China) on 11 July. However, the customs clearance has been done in China. As soon as I receive, I will share the feedback after installation. I am also patiently waiting.

Just received the replacement screen from China. It took 50 days to reach after ordering.

Will replace the screen in a day or two and share the feedback.

Hi Dipankar,

Thanks for posting. Google does not have a service center in India, nor do we sell parts for the Nest display. I suggest that you check with your local service center to see if they can replace the screen on your device.

Dear all,

Sorry for the late reply. The replacement screen that I bought did not work. The device can be considered dead now. Although I have lost money and time both, it is absolutely clear that if the nest hub malfunctions within the warranty period, a replacement product can be given from Google. Otherwise, any damage occurs cannot be healed or replaced.
