"normal" room volume at 5%

I have several speakers in use. At a certain point during the last months, the volume behavior of played music (Spotify) has changed significantly. Previously, I used at speaker of ~15-20%. Now I have to listen at volume 5% to get a normal room volume. A volume reduction is not very precise, because there is hardly any room to move downwards. Does anyone have the same experience? Is there a setting I haven't found yet to configure this behavior?

Hi plef45,

This is not the experience we want you to have; let us help you. A few questions: which Nest speakers are we working with? Were there any recent changes made? Is the concern only happening when using Spotify? Is 5% volume on all speakers too loud for room volume?

It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot first:

  1. Unplug the power cord from your router, followed by your Nest speakers.
  2. Plug them back in after 3 minutes.
  3. Restarting your phone might also help.

Once done, kindly try other music services to see if this is isolated to Spotify alone.

Let us know how it goes.

Best,

Dan
