responding in the accent question asked

This is mocking or even racist.
I have a bit of Indian accent, but it is not something I am used hearing in my day to day life. I live in USA and my assist settings are US English. It is super cool that Google can detect my accent, but the response accent is not acceptable.

Shame on the Developers to VP's who thought it is a cool Idea.

That’s disgusting and I’d be very offended.
Is this what they’ve been spending time on, instead of just giving us the date on our screensavers?

Hi folks,

foo123, Mary73, we apologize if this has caused you any discomfort. The Google Assistant on your device responds properly to accents it detects. It was not intended to answer with racist remarks and responses, and we thank you for giving us a bump.

Our team is working hard to deliver the best experience for our users; we'll take this as feedback. Keep an eye on the Google Nest Community page at https://goo.gle/2JvnMRy for any updates. Please let me know if you have other questions or concerns, as I will be locking this in 24 hours if I don't hear back from you again. Feel free to start a new thread, and we'll be happy to help.

@JillG, thanks for the help!

Best,

Dan

seriously you don't think it is inappropriate to respond in different accents. it is very annoying to hear different accents in a day.

If it responded in Indian accent when i was in India i can understand and probably felt happy. i live in USA and lost most of my Indian accent and not used to hearing it. It is as equal as some white shop keeper responding in indian accent to me.

Anyways, you are not in my shoes to understand. Must be some outsider who thinks it is cool and deciding for others what they like. i really don't care, the google thing came with my mesh wifi which is always in mute. i know we south asians are taken granted by everyone. I bet you don't respond to any other non native english speaking accents ( like African or middle eastern)

I will probably have to switch to iphone as my android auto is responding in Indian accent occasionally.
