Cannot find devices in casting from Chrome Browser

I have used my PC to cast to the TV videos from YouTube for lessons. I use the web browser. Never had a problem. Now, my casting extension says that there are no devices to connect to. I have done all the troubleshooting. On the same network. PC is discoverable on the network. Restarted multiple times. Restarted router. (I had lost the casting button too but managed to figure out how to make it always show- again.) Please help me in figuring out how to get this to recognize other devices on the network to cast to. Thank you. PC is Windows 10. Chrome browser is up to date.

Hello Jayce,

Thanks for posting to the Chromecast Community forum and for being a step ahead of us. Let's sort this out.

A few questions: what type of Chromecast device do you have? What is the make and model of the device you used to cast? Has there been any changes in your network?

Try these steps:

  1. Check if other devices can cast successfully (Example: phones, tablets, computers).
  2. Check the antivirus of the computer. There are cases (mostly in Windows) wherein the Chromecast device fails to work after the antivirus finished an update. If this happens, call your antivirus provider.
  3. Factory reset your Chromecast device. Here's a guide: How to factory reset your Chromecast.

Keep me posted.

Best,

Jennifer
