Since today I can't use YouTube on my Google TV HD anymore. Never had a problem before. Did a restart, did uninstall YouTube, cleared Cache and Data of the App. All no change.
When I open the app with the remote control, YouTube starts up, shows the video overview like normal and around 3 seconds later the app closes and I'm back on the home screen of the Google TV. Other apps work as before.
What can I do?

Same issue here with 2 different devices, clearing data and uninstall/reinstall does nothing. The app is broken.

I am experiencing the same issue on one of two Chromecast devices. I performed the factory reset and it did not fix the issue. YouTube TV works fine on the same Chromecast. I also cannot Cast from the YouTube app on iPhone to this Chromecast. It initiates connection and drops.

Happen to me too since yesterday at night (3th sep by 7:00 pm) but only on my "Chromecast with Google TV", the app is working fine on my other devices. I already reset, clear data, reinstall and nothing works, three seconds later after open the app it automatic close.

Two different google chromecast devices cannot open youtube app (shows the main screen but closes in 2-3 seconds). The devices are up to date and youtube cache clear uninstall/reinstall reboot did not resolve the problem. The other mobile devices in the same network at home can open youtube app without a problem.

Same behavior here. Try all the workarounds but nothing fixes the failure.

Youtube app is constantly crashing, it doesn't even stay open for more than 5 seconds. Netflix and NeptuneTV work great. I've tried every single thing. From clearing the cache and data, to uninstalling, to even factory resetting the device. I plugged and unplugged both my TV and my Wifi for more than 30 seconds. I can't even cast youtube on my TV from my phone, it just crashes again on the TV. It was working perfectly up until last night. There are no updates available for the app either. I've watched youtube videos to try to figure it out, even went on reddit forums and I'm so demotivated. It's been exactly a year since I got this device. Please please help me resolve the issue. The whole purpose of getting it was so I could use YouTube on my TV.

Same problem, even after factory reset

Hello everyone,
From today I realized that the Youtube APP crashes after a few moments from its start.
I launch the Application, it takes me to the Youtube home, and without being able to do anything (no click of the remote controller is detected), it crashes taking me back to the Chromecast HD TV home screen.
I tried to:
- Check the system and App updates (all to the latest version available)
- uninstall and reinstall the Youtube APP (No effect).
- Perform a factory reset of the chromecast and reinstall everything (No effect).
- Create another user associated with another google account (No effect).
All the applications work correctly, the only one that has problems is the Youtube APP.
Thanks for any support

The YT app on my TCL TV was updated September 3 (yesterday) and like everyone else, it loads up displays some content and immediately closes. I just recently switched to Projectivity Launcher (so great!) so I was certain THAT was the problem but thankfully it's just a presumably temporary bug in the YT app.

Same issue here, tried everything but to no avail.

Sounds like a botched update. It was fine yesterday, but crashes today with no fix including the reinstall which is expected since it'll install a botched version

I’m having the same issue with my google chrome cash. Every time I open the app it crashes after a few seconds. All other apps are working fine

Checked for an update for the YT app this morning and there it was. Updated and now working well as of this morning (05Sep2024).
Roll back your latest updates as of 2 weeks ago or most of us are going to jump, ship and switch to Apple TV. Even though we don't want to, you're just forcing us to.

Just cleared cache, data and reinstalled the app and it's back
09-04-2024 12:01 PM
You're right. I think they made a rollback of the published version from yesterday. The current date of my app is 14.08.2024. It works again.

Sorry I'm late.
Thanks for looking into the problem, working on it, & getting it working again.
YouTube up & running again & did update on its own.
