Like it says above Chromecast Ultra stopped showing the options menu for YouTube. used to get a preview of stuff to choose from but it isn't there anymore. The mini says it is displayed on the screen and asks me to choose but nothing is there. If I say a number, it starts playing. Both dongles quit showing it at the same time. They both have the same firmware and I have even done a factory rest on one of them. It still isn't showing on the screen. Anyone have this issue before?

@Jeran @JenniferV it is coming up to a year since my issues started. What gives? This has been as reliable as Chromecast has been...... not showing any results and having us guess.

It is very frustrating. I can atleast use my phone and bypass it but my daughter just has to guess at it. She is still phone less at 7yo. I know I'm a monster 😄

Thanks for reaching out. Is this only happening when asking your Google Home Mini to cast videos from YouTube? Have you tried to cast from other supported apps? If this is working when manually casting from your phone to your TV, please reboot your Google Home Mini and Chromecast Ultra. If the issue persists, please reset your devices and try again.

The home devices say they are showing options on the TV but nothing shows up. The app on the phone goes straight to playing without options. All devices have been reset a few times now in the past month I have been having this issue.

Thanks for the swift reply. Could you please provide the firmware version of your Google Home Mini and Chromecast Ultra? Also, have you tried to check if the same issue persists with other supported apps, like Netflix or HBO Max (If you have these apps)?

No, you should be able to do this. It's a feature listed as a selling option. For the sake of all that's holy do your due diligence and be accountable

Having the issue on Chromecast Gen 2 as well. It appears to be a wide spread problem for many users.

When I ask Google home to play videos on my chromecast ie: "hey Google show sesame Street videos on YouTube on TV" it responds with "here are some options showing on TV, which one would you like" but no suggestions show up on the TV screen. They used to, and then suddenly it wasn't working. I can tell it a number and it'll play a video. But I can't see ahead of time which one it is. I rebooted the chromecast and did a factory reset which removed it from my home then readded it and it isn't fixed. I don't know what to do please help!

I am having the same issue. I have also tried everything that you described in your post but it is still not working. Hope google fixes it in up-coming software releases.

I ask nest mini speaker “show me videos of Las Vegas hotels”. It says “showing options on <tv name>, which would you like ?”
it used to display the list of options on the TV. Now it doesn’t. I have to just say “number 1”, which has be blindly guessing that’s the good video I want since I can’t actually see the options on my tv.
this used to work properly.
things I’ve tried:
rebooting chromecast ultra
rebooting nest mini speaker
trying a different pair of nest mini and chromecast ultra elsewhere in the home
rebooting the second pair of nest mini speaker and chromecast ultra.
can anyone at google give me a useful recommendation other than a canned response ?
Integration between products has gotten more buggy over time. The actual voice recognition has gotten worse on all google assistant products.

When I ask Google home or Google Hub to play a video it used to show a choice of videos to choose from and ask me which one I wanted - It still asks me which one I want but it no longer shows the videos on screen to choose from - started a couple months ago and happens on all my chromecasts - more than 4 - what gives?

Same here, I think it's related to google products like chromecast no longer being signed in to youtube

So what's the deal with this? You keep repeating the same thing over and over again with absolutely no solutions other than telling people to reboot which obviously doesn't work. Can you give us a direct answer for a change? I've had this issue I'm going actually for a couple years between my older Chromecast and my newer one. The older one still has the issue on going for over a year and my newer Chromecast stopped working normally a week ago with YouTube like everybody else is here. So please give us a direct answer, if Google is allegedly aware of this issue why have they not resolved it yet? Not enough money involved?

I have 4 minis, 2 Chromecast Ultras, 2 Chromecasts, and hub. Every single one of them has this issue. I am tired of it. This is one of their major functions and it is not working. I'm about to switch to Amazon.

I'm having those thoughts as well. I had a new thing pop up recently. I have 2 Vizio tvs that I use for my security camera monitors. When I use Google to turn them on they shut back off in an hour. If I manually turn them on they stay on. Also on of them started to switch to the smart menu instead of hdmi1 every time it turns on. That just started also. It ran like I wanted for a year now this.

Sorry, just since it has been 2 months since your last update and it is just a continuation of saying its being looked at and nothing has been done in this time. How soon would we be looking at for a fix. Especially since this has been an issue in this thread since June and it looks like nothing is being done, I personally have had this issue for longer but I have just dealt with the annoyance but it is building.

I am also having the same issue others have reported -- I say to the google home "play ______ video from Youtube using chromecast" and it says "okay here are some options, which one would you like?", though nothing displays on the screen. This started in the past few weeks as others have reported, after working for years, likely due to recent firmware update. This is with a chromecast ultra.

I think I've had this problem ongoing for about 2 weeks - 1 month. That I'm aware of. Can confirm blind guessing still works (I'm in Canada if anyone cares)
