Chromecast remote stopped working

My chromecast remote is suddenly dead out of blue! The light is on but all the buttons don't work except the volume button and mute button. Changed the battery and tried re-pairing hoping it would help but It seems to be worse. It can't even pair it with the TV now. 

 

Looking for advice how to fix it. Thank you very much.

Try these steps:

  1. Remove the batteries from the remote.
  2. Check that the batteries have charge remaining (i.e., test them in another device).
  3. Using your phone or other remote to navigate, go to Settings > Remotes & Accessories.
  4. Select your remote and choose to Forget it.
  5. Choose Pair remote accessory to start a new pairing.
  6. While holding down the home button, reinsert the batteries.
  7. Continue to hold the button while the light is solid. 
  8. When the light starts pulsing, release the home button.
  9. The remote should be detected on the right side of the screen. Use your alternate remote to select it to pair it.

In most cases, your remote will pair automatically after you insert the batteries. If it doesn’t, follow the steps on the TV screen, or press and hold the Back and Home buttons on the remote for 3 seconds.

Thank you @David_K. I followed the above instruction but I had no luck. When at the pairing stage, the remote's light on but nothing happen (no pulsing). It seems like the buttons themselves (both back & home, and I assume the rest as well) do not work. 😢 Do you have any service center in Bangkok, Thailand where I can get the remote checked?

nokalways, I'm sorry to hear that you're still having an issue with your Chromecast Voice Remote. Have you contacted our support team using the link shared by our Product Expert? Sorry @JenniferV for my delay response. I haven't checked my mailbox for days. No, I haven't contact the technical team just yet but I did sent the remote to the store where I bought and have it checked with the technician. Nothing was wrong with my remote but I still cannot connect it with the chromecast. Perhaps the problem is with the chromecast itself 😢

Thanks for getting back to us with an update. To confirm, when you sent back your remote to the store, did they return it to you? If yes, have you tried performing a factory reset on your Chromecast dongle as per instructed above?
