Chromecast unable to play Amazon Prime

  • Video does not appear from Prime on my android to the TV via Chromecast, it gives audio only.
  • It does display the rating logo at the top of the screen and you can hear audio but no video. 
  • All software is up to date so is this some kind of licence or compatability issue?

A few questions:

  • How far is the Chromecast from the router?
  • How far are you from the TV when you try to cast?
  • Is the internet connection stable?
  • Has there been any changes on the router settings?
  • Are the devices connected to the same network?
  • Is this only happening when casting videos from Amazon Prime?

Give these steps a try:

 

  1. Check the proximity of the TV to the casting device (phone, tablet, or computer), and Wi-Fi router.
  2. Reboot the Chromecast, casting device, and router.
  3. Toggle Wi-Fi off/on in your casting device.
  4. Turn off power saving mode if your mobile phone or laptop has a saving power setting.
  5. Uninstall and reinstall the Amazon Prime app.
  6. Perform a factory reset.

Note: If the issue is isolated when casting videos from Amazon Prime, please reach out to the app developer for further assistance.
