Trying to use chromecast away from home, and forgot the remote! Cannot discover or add the device from Google Home and Google TV apps (nothing is found during scan). Help, what can I do?..

Hi Lconfused,
That certainly hasn't been easy for you ― let’s check this out.
Few questions: What kind of Chromecast do you use? What is the status of the LED light and what's the exact message on your TV?
When you mention "use Chromecast away from home", does that mean you're trying to control your device that's not with you or are you trying to set it up in a different location without the remote?
Keep me posted.
Thanks,
Dan

Thanks for your answer, Dan.
Model: Google Chromecast with TV, GZRNL 4K.
LED is normal, there's no error, and I see the main, home screen after the G logo, asking to choose my account. That's when I realized I forgot the remote.
Chromecast is with me, plugged in the TV, but of course is not on the local wifi, which it does not know yet. That's the first thing I wanted to do: to connect it to the new wifi.
But how to control it without the remote?!.. I was hoping I could use my phone as a bluetooth remote thanks to Google TV or Google Home app. But these apps don't detect the Chromecast during scan.
I guess the only way would be to reset it to factory defaults, which I don't want to do.
Any suggestion most appreciated!..
Thanks!

Hi there,
Chromecast with Google TV 4k can only remember one Wi-Fi network at a time. If you changed your Wi-Fi network and your device isn't currently connected to a Wi-Fi network, perform a factory reset and set up your Chromecast on the new network.
If your Chromecast is connected to an existing Wi-Fi network but you'd like to connect it to a new one, follow the steps below:
Once the setup is complete, you can open this link to use your phone as a remote.
Tell me how it goes.
Best,
Dan
