Had the internet at home drop out for all of 30 seconds, my chromecast had a fit and decided from that point onwards wifi or internet for that matter is no longer a thing, you can see wifi networks but don't even think of connecting I've tried 6 different networks (Yes all the passwords were correct, mix of 2.4gh and 5gh) I have factory reset it multiple times however it always fails to go any further than the wifi setup page

Just updating as of today I have had multiple responses with the help desk agent (nice guy). one response from engineering team, the Engineering team responded; please check the advanced troubleshooting steps below:
Do you have a dual- band router? If Yes, may you try to connect your Chromecast device on the 5Ghz channel, also please make sure that your mobile phone used for set up is connected to the same 5Ghz channel.
If you have Access Point (AP) isolation enabled on your router settings, try to disable it, since the (AP) isolation can prevent communication between devices.
Check your router and device settings:
Be sure that Multicast, UPnP, and Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP) are enabled on the router.
If your router runs on a Domain Name System (DNS) software, enable the public Google DNS IP addresses 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.
If you need help with your router settings, please contact your Internet Service provider to ask for help.
4.Check and configure the MAC address filtering settings:
If you have the Media Access Control (MAC) address filtering enable your router.
How to locate the MAC address during Chromecast setup:
From the Connect to Wi-Fi screen of the setup process, in the top right corner, tap More More.
Tap Show MAC Address.
5. Set up a mobile hotspot on a second mobile device:
To set up hotspot on a second mobile device
On the second device, turn on mobile data and hotspot.
On the first device, turn on the Wifi, then connect to the hotspot of the second mobile device.
From the first device, open the Google Home app .
Choose the Chromecast the customer wants to set up.
Follow the prompts until the customer reaches the Wi-Fi setup screen.
Select the mobile hotspot as the Wi-Fi Network.
Enter the password for the hotspot network.
Click the Set Network button.....
If your device is out of warranty (thankfully mine still is) I wish you good luck.
I am currently running linux mint with google tv emulated on a 10 Y/O laptop that is 40 times more stable than Chromecast. If you have a laptop or pc emulate Google tv, you can stream to your laptop the exact same way you could with chromecast FREE. Use anything else before spending your money on another one of these items

Appreciate your message but yes android as tagged, full list of everything I have done include;
Factory reset chromecast
Uninstalled google home and reinstalled
Used a different google account and 2 different android devices
Tried different networks 2.4ghz and 5ghz both wifi6 and not
Tried 2 different routers with newest firmware ax1000 and C50 tp link with ISP and Google recommended settings (port forwarding etc) with and without passwords
Tried a hotspot to setup the network with and without passwords
I have had a support case escalated to engineering however with the google chromecast line being discontinued I doubt it will progress much further than me buying a new or different device
