my tv is a bit old, only supports 1080i, not 1080p. I read a few places 1080i support was added in an update a year or 2 ago. Has this changed?

Hi pointlessamy,
Thanks for reaching out. The Chromecast devices with its specifications be it 4K or 1080p means the maximum output it can display. So if your TVs maximum output is 1080i, that’s the only display it can show even if your Chromecast device can do more. Check out this link for more information.
Let me know if you have questions.
Thanks,
Kimy

Hi Kimy, thank you for replying. I do understand what you are saying, the issue is the display resolution settings on Chromecast only show 1080p, then 720p and lower. I don't have an option to force 1080i. How can I force 1080i? Thanks

Hi pointlessamy,
Unfortunately, there's no way to force it. You can only set the resolution shows on your device settings.
