I've been having this strange problem for many years now when I watch literally anything on my Google Chromecast with TV streaming device, or by using the built in SONY TV Android interface (this happens on both).
I always watch with subtitles turned on and at first everything looks normal, but if I turn the TV off and walk away for a few hours (or more) when I return the subtitles will just NOT show. Or sometimes they'll be VERY small, almost impossible to see.
The only way to get the subtitles back is to force the PLEX app to stop and restart it.
Honestly this would easily be solved if the PLEX app just restarted itself every night at 4am or something

I also posted this question on the PLEX Forum but hopefully someone here has had a similar issue.

Hey this isn't really the place for this question as it would be the Plex devs that have to look into this for you. I use Plex myself on my devices (shield tv, CCwGTV) and actually have the opposite issue, I don't use subtitles but if I let autoplay work they suddenly appear. I've also posted my question to the Plex devs as this is a recent issue.

It's a forum, people might have had a similar issue. You don't know for sure it's a Plex issue.

SpeedGeek, how's it going? Still need help? Please try to clear the cache and data of the Plex app. Reinstalling it and rebooting your Chromecast with Google TV might also help.
Also, if the issue also occurs with a different device aside from Chromecast with Google and the issue is isolated with this specific app, I'd suggest you reach out to Plex support for further assistance.

They did not. I've already deleted the app and reinstalled it many times. This happens both on my Chrome Google TV device and the built in SONY android interface.
