New Chromecast 4K wont pair

kmaddy58

I cannot pair the Chromecast with my iPhone. The LED on the chromecast blinks but is never discoverable. I've tried changing the order of plugging things in, Ive shut down my router and my trned off my own Wi-Fi. When I had it attached to the TV I got a screen telling me to push 2 buttons on the remote, which seemed promising, but did nothing. I moved it to another room closer to the router - nothing. When I look on my WiFi settings I do not see a ChromecastXXX Wi-Fi to connect to.

Just bought it at Wal-Mart, its the light blue model.

What colour is the light on the Chromecast? If you don't see the ChromecastXXX Wifi network that suggests it is already setup, and you should be able to see it in the Google Home app?

Hello there,

Thanks for lending a hand here, davidking.

kmaddy58, I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue setting up your Chroemcast with Google TV (4K).

If you're using an iOS phone to set up your device, please make sure the Bluetooth and the Local Network Access is on in your phone settings. Here's how you can turn on the Local Network Access: go to the phone settings > Tap Privacy > Local Network > you should find a list of apps. You must turn on the Local Network Access for the Google Home app.

For additional troubleshooting steps, check out this support website article.

Let me know how it goes.

Best,

Jennifer

Thank you for your help!! Stupidly the problem seemed to be that the remote needed new batteries (other than the ones it came with new from the store). I wouldn't have thought you needed the remote that much, but apparently yes.

Hello kmaddy58,

Don't mention it! To confirm, is everything up and running now after replacing the batteries on your Voice Remote? If yes, let me know if you still have questions and concerns otherwise, I'll be locking this thread after 24 hours.

Regards,

Jennifer
