All streaming services ( Netflix, HBO, YouTube etc...) function perfectly except Amazon Prime which has severe lag issues and often won't load a video at all. I often have to back out and retry multiple times to get a video to load. To try and fix the issue I have:
Uninstalled and reinstalled the Amazon app
Factory Reset Chromecast device
Tried multiple HDMI ports
Is there anything else I should try?
Am I the only one having issues with Amazon Prime? Or is this just the way Amazon works on a Chromecast device?

Hello LesM,
Thanks for reaching out and for doing some steps beforehand — it's a big help!
To cover all the bases, have you tried casting from a mobile phone to your TV? If yes, how was it? You may try to reboot your Wi-Fi router and plug in the Chromecast with Google TV to a different TV screen if one is available.
Also, if this is only happening with Amazon Prime video app, please reach out to the app developer for additional help.
Best,
Jennifer

I am having the same issue as LesM, as are many others.

This started with the Android 12 update. It's only an issue with Amazon Prime. You can easily duplicate this issue with ccgtv and a tv.
Google should reach out to Amazon to solve this.

Yes, still need help. See my reply to JenniferV above. Asking us to contact Amazon doesn't help. They will tell us to contact Google. If you have a chromecast for google tv (I'm using the older model purchased in 2021), an Amazon Prime account to view their streams and a TV, you will be able to duplicate the issue.
My TV is a Hisense model 50U6G with android tv built in and when I use android tv, Amazon prime video streaming works just fine, so it's a chromecast issue. Mine is plugged into the TV's HDMI port. Disconnecting the power from the ccgtv for a few minutes will temporarily solve the issue, but when using it again hours or a day later, the spinning circle lag returns.

I did some further testing. I've realized that if i restart the CCGTV it works without any problems or loading screen.
But once the CCGTV is set for standby, the next time watching Amazon Prime the problem occurs again..

Hey folks,
I'm sorry for the late reply. I've forwarded this to our team and they're currently investigating the issue. We suggest you send feedback about this via Google TV and use the keyword "CCT3 Severe lag on Amazon Prime video after Android 12 update".
Every bit of feedback helps a ton!
Thanks,
Jennifer

I have the same issue with mine.
Just bought a CCGTV and all apps work really good (YT, Netflix, HBO Max etc) except Amazon Prime.
It keeps buffering every couple of minutes.. 😔

I have exact same issue, allother apps work fine.. I notice some 'shows' works without buffering ? maybe this on Amazon issue, having some shows Not in 4K density, and this makes some delay, therefore buffering ?? to convert them 'online' ??

Same situation here Chromecast 4k with Google TV.
When streaming from Prime some videos get the spinning icon when it buffers - it happens every few minutes and it drives us mad...
All other apps (Netflix, AppleTV, YouTube,Discovery) work ok without buffering.
I am on a Gigabit fibre broadband and have no issues when using the prime app pre-installed on my Samsung TV (this only happens on Chromecast).

Did anyone hear back from Google or Amazon in regards to the issue discussed in this ticket?

Same problem. Anyone find a solution?

Restarting Chromecast fixes it but after the next standby you will need to restart again...
Best solution - use something else for prime, or drop prime video 😉

I downloaded shows on my phone using the Prime Video App and then streamed them to my TV using Chromecast. No more buffers or delays.

I did not find a solution, but a workaround that does not require a full Chromecast restart.
When you are in Prime Video and you want to stop watching or use another app, do NOT just press the "Home" button or switch your TV off. Instead press the "Back" button on your remote multiple times until the Prime App asks you whether you want to close it. Confirm this question and the app closes instead of just being pushed into the background. The next time you use Prime, there will be no lags.
This is still not nice and Google/Amazon really need to work on a fix, but at least it does not require a full restart of Chromecast, so is a bit less annyoing.

Common problem for all. Try to work with Amazon to solve the problem. If you contact them they will tell you to buy a firestick!

Same problem over here ✋!
We took the advice and retraced our steps with the back button and logged out of the app entirely. Logged back in and it worked without buffering or glitching.
Thanks!
