iPhone 14 pro not connecting properly to Google Home or Chromecast TV

Hello

I just switched from a Samsung Galaxy S10 back to iPhone. It’s a 14 Pro.

I can access my Chromecast with Google TV fine via the Google Home app and it works ok casting via apps such as Netflix, YouTube, BBC iPlayer etc. However I can’t cast videos from Google Chrome - something that worked fine on my Samsung.

A possible clue is that I can’t get Spotify to cast directly to my Google Home speakers. It works if I use voice activation to start playing f something via Spotify and then change the track on my phone, but I can’t initiate a connection from my phone.

I have access local networks setup correctly for Chrome (and Spotify) so it isn’t that.

Any ideas?

Thanks - I haven’t managed to find a similar situation via searching the forum but apologies if there is a known fix on here.

Hi Thphilpott,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm afraid casting from a Chrome browser using an iOS device isn't supported.

With regards to Spotify, are you trying to access it using the browser on your phone or through the Spotify app?

I'll wait for your response.

Thanks,

Jennifer

Hi Thphilpott,

Thanks for getting back to us. Could you please reinstall the Spotify app and reboot your mobile phone? Using a different mobile device and rebooting your Wi-Fi router might also help.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,

Jennifer

Brilliant - uninstalling the Spotify app, reinstalling it and restarting the phone has done the trick! Thanks so much. And I am using a 3rd party app (WebVideoCast) for streaming non YouTube video.
