Google Hub intermittent black screen/no connection when viewing 2 of 8 Nest Cameras

Hello,

We have 8 total Nest cameras connected to Google Home and now have a Google Home Hub with screen to display these cameras at different times. 2 of the cameras (which both happen to be indoor wired cameras) show black screens INTERMITTENTLY or just fail to connect whatsoever. If we unplug and plug the Hub back in, it resolves the issue for about a half-day, but then reverts back to the same issue. We've tried updating firmware and uninstalling those cameras then re-installing them, but nothing has helped.

Thank you for any help you can provide!

Hi Mattsmores,

Thanks for posting and letting us know about your Nest Hub concern. I'm committed to providing you with excellent customer service and will do everything I can to help you resolve this issue. A few questions: when did it begin? Were there any recent changes made? Does it happen when you stream the camera via the Google Home app? Also, have you been experiencing internet outages recently?

I look forward to your response.

Regards,

Juni

It began as soon as we bought the Hub in mid November. Upon initial boot up we noticed the 2 indoor Nest cams had issues staying connected or just wouldn't show up at all. No changes were made, it just hasn't worked since initial start up. Does not happen on the Google Home App, only the Hub. No internet outages lately.

If it helps, the 2 cameras that are having issues are both indoor 1st generation Nest cams. The outdoor ones  & doorbell cam work flawlessly on the Hub.

Of note, we do get some garbled audio sometimes when it's showing a black screen, so I know there is *some* sort of signal coming through. But it cuts out and isn't steady and the camera doesn't show at all.

Hey Mattsmores,

Thanks for the details you’ve shared. Try to factory reset your Google Nest Hub. This erases all your personalized settings and restores the factory default settings. It won’t automatically reconnect to WI-Fi, and you’ll need to set it up again. Check out the article below to know more about it.

Factory reset Google Nest or Home speakers or displays
