Spoken broadcast message changed to spoken message??

realjax
Community Member

So when I broadcast a  spoken message to other devices in the house, the nest devices start to analyse the message and then change it to a spoken message using the google voice.  I know this sounds absurd and that is exactly what it is.  Why on earth would you want to change a spoken message into a.... spoken message??? Which 9 out of 10 times is wrong as well!! How do I turn this 'feature' off and prevent the home devices from trying to analyse spoken broadcast messages??

Hey everyone,

Great news! I'm thrilled to inform you that the broadcasting issue has been resolved. If you're still experiencing any problems, a quick reboot of your device could help. But, if the issue persists, do let us know by updating this thread.

Cheers,

Muddi

"Hey Google, should I replace you with Alexa?"

This is crazy. Same here. We are using Broadcast everydays to communciate in our large house or from work to our house. Now it is unusable as it started to transcribed our message. So unhappy and frustrated.

Please would you mind pretty please to guide us to a solution to revert back to a normal "intercom"

Thanks

It is impossible to use broadcast and yes Google services tend to be getting worse. May years ago I moved from apple eco system to Android and Google services now it seems time to go back to apple and amazon devices or have to find alternates

This is quite a unusable feature  with the change to as the original poster said it--takes a users voice filled with nuance, purpose and replace it with the transcribed synthesized "Google Voice" voice. Hoping for a speedy fix because, apart from the "Photo frame" and "play audio to all devices" was the third best feature in Google Home/ Nest home products.

Can we get a update on what's happening? We need this feature available using our voices I have 6 of these in the house and we can't make out who is who

Common Google, just tell us: is this change permenant, or is this a bug and you are actively trying to fix?   Tell us.

I am staggered that this problem remains unresolved. Also amazed that a company with the development pedigree of Google keeps making changes to their software that breaks key features of their devices which are installed in literally millions of homes and then leave the bugs in place for months - this latest problem coming hot on the heels of the pulsing lights problem.

I would suggest filing a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission.

In both cases (pulsing lights and automated voice) it almost appears as though Google wants to hear inside our home. The pulsing lights meant that the devices were on constant listening mode. Now our messages are being transcribed.

I'm new to forum.

I hav 4 Google nest in my house. Google nest now not broadcasting my voice as recorded voice message, but change my messages into written English. Sometimes I use Tamil to broadcast. And now the Tamil is changed to English and the point of message is changed totally... How to make Google nest to broadcast my own voice?

I am affected by this as well. I use the broadcasting feature to signal to my caregivers that I need help and now it rarely works, with a long delay if it does work.

So it's not just us... Broadcasts are 10-20 seconds delayed

Let's overwhelm Google with this problem... Because i'm really getting sick of this **bleep**.

good idea.
should be under google assistant? home app? nest app?

I just posted it under Speakers or Displays because i have a lot of Speakers (mini's) and a hub.

I'd put it under Speakers or Displays.

I miss hearing my little ones cute voice over broadcast. I don't need to be hearing the assistant telling me "daddy I love you". Who thought this was a good idea?

How long is this going to take to fix.  The lack of communication is breathtaking.  Is this "feature" of Google assistant transcribing our broadcasts on purpose or is this a really big bug?  You can see least tell us that.

Amazon is having massive discounts on their Echos right now. The Echo Pop is down down to $29 from $79 (in Australia). Guess who's got an Echo coming in the post?

Why is this not fixed yet! How do we get someone at Google to put it back to the way it was.

Just jumping in to say the same thing is happening in my house. It worked mostly great for ages, then all broadcasts suddenly started being read in Google's voice. It did fix itself briefly, but then after a few days, went back. Boo.

So sad to see Google going down the hill! Only focused on Ads ads ads ads!

I am also seeing this issue for months now and it makes the speakers utterly useless. Fix it Google or I will migrate to another solution!

+1. Can't wait for it to be resolved.

Same exact issue. Took them months to fix the pulsing lights, and now the broadcast feature is fried. This is why people switch to competitors.

Unfortunately this is how Google seems to operate these days. They deliberately implement this feature to harvest more spoken data untill they can no longer ignore the number of complaints. Then they announce a 'fix shortly' thus enabling them to collect some more.  Google has become evil.

My mom is 95 years old living in a residence 200km from me and I used to broadcast my voice to her everyday and was the only way we could communicate, its was very reassuring to her, and she replies via camera, and it litterally saved her life many times as i was able to communication directly with medical staff in the room, now it's gone and has made everything we've worked on useless, she is alone, cannot use a phone, google broadcast with my VOICE is a necessity, PLEASE FIX BROADCAST WITH MY VOICE on Family room speaker !!!  And when i click settings, communication and choose primary home for broadcasts it keeps saying " opps something went wrong.."

Hello folks,

Thanks for bringing this up. Our team is aware of the issue wherein the Google Home/Nest devices are only using the Assistant voice to broadcast. I'll go ahead and duplicate this thread on a similar trending issue. Please note that once moved, this original thread will be locked.

@Falkenbruck: We understand. If you ever change your mind, we'll be here to help.

Cheers,

Muddi

Are you all new at your jobs? Keep giving the same answers. And if you are moving this to another thread wouldn't it make sense to post a link while you were telling us??

Shoey5

.....or you could just leave it the way it is and send an email to the people responsible for getting this problem fixed and telling them that people are pissed and you just pissed them off even more

cameronlewis

So immensely frustrating. Like many here, broadcasting is a primary use case. Such a freaking stupid decision to have broadcast use some utterly incompetent robot voice.

sallybally

bruh it can't be that hard to fix. Just undo what ever you did GOOGLE

Disappointing reply from @Muddi. I've been a very good client of google since gmail started and am. Subscribed to all kinds of google related products. But this incident has changed my perception of Google to being the future to being just another **bleep**ty service. Will be exploring apple, alexa and other 3td party products soon. Luckily i only have 7 nests around and the rest are 3rd party devices.
