Camera (battery)

Stephi

I have an outdoor Nest camera that has worked fine on battery for almost a year. Recently ran power to it so that it’s now plugged in. Get messages that battery needs charging, even though shows plugged in. Camera is working, but why does battery always says need charging?

I have another camera, same type, that is plugged in and never seen a battery level show up.

Not sure what model camera it is so you might want to check the guide for it as some I discovered have configuration settings that need to be updated even though the power is now there.

@Stephi

We have had a battery camera for 19 months, plugged in with the optional 10-meter power cable. When you go to Settings | Battery in the Google Home app, it should say "Plugged in" with an infinity symbol. If it does not, check that the USB connection is securely plugged into the bottom of your camera and that the power cable is feeding towards the FRONT of the camera.

Have you tried swapping power cables?  Perhaps you have a faulty cable.

Im hoping that by “reseting” my camera this morning we may have fixed it.

Last night before going to bed I showed plugged in and the infinity symbol. This morning battery alert message the battery needed charging and sure enough it showed zero.

I reset the camera and by mid-afternoon  full charge, plugged in, infinity symbol.

Checked just now, 7:00 PM Eastern time and still good to go.

Thanks for the update, Stephi.

Let's watch it for the next 2-3 days and see how it goes. If anything changes, just update us here again.

Thanks,
Jeff

Keeping fingers crossed, but it’s been 4 days since I “reset” our camera and it continues to be showing plugged in and the infinity symbol. Perhaps after being used on the battery for about 9 months it needed a kick in the butt. Let’s hope.
