Chromecast with Google TV aspect ratio on ultrawide monitor

Hi,

I just bought a Chromecast with Google TV (4K) and try to use it with my Samsung ultrawide monitor (S34J552WQ). My problem is, that the resolution of the Google TV is set to 1080p, and it is stretched on my monitor. This is the highest available resolution settings in my Google TV (it does not show 4K, probably because the monitor does not support it). The monitor supports 3440x1440, but I am not able to set it up. I even tried to switch the screen size of the monitor from auto to wide, but the Google TV is still stretched. It is not stretched, if I set the resolution to 576p or 480p, but this resolution is bad, and the sides of the monitor are blacked  out, as the aspect ratio is still not matching.

Is there a way to fix it? It is pretty annoying.

Hi @danielbolla

I am afraid the Google TV doesn't support a Widescreen monitor resolution.
It's designed to be used on TVs which have 720p, 1080p, and 4K resolutions.

Don't think these kinds of aspect ratios are supported. 🙄

Hello there,

Thanks for answering, RXShorty

danielbolla, we hope that answered your question. Adding to what our Product Expert mentioned, the aspect ratio of the Chromecast with Google TV (4K) is 16:9, and 4K HDR Dolby Vision, in up to 60fps.

Best,

Jennifer
