HDR or Dolby Vision Brightness/Peak brightness/Color precision

Hi,

I'm currently trying to use a "Chromecast with Google TV 4K" on my LG C1, an OLED TV.

When trying to watch HDR or Dolby Vision content, brightness is nowhere close to its peak, and colors are bland.

Comparing with the TVs native apps, it's like I'm watching on an actual OLED TV, while when I'm using the "Chromecast with Google TV 4K", it looks like a 2011's LCD. And yes, I've matched the same picture settings from both the Native apps to the HDMI settings of the "Chromecast with Google TV 4K"

I've tried fiddling up with the settings and couldn't reproduce nothing close to what the native apps are able to display, ESPECIALLY on peak brightness. It's like I'm watching an HDR converted to SDR content with the "Chromecast with Google TV 4K".

I've set up the "Chromecast with Google TV 4K" to 4K 60Hz, Dolby Vision, set to Low Latency and Match Content. When watching the latest 3rd episode from The Last of Us on HBO Max, at around the 12:30 minute mark, when they're walking under the sun, the difference is absurd between the native HBO Max and the "Chromecast with Google TV 4K" HBO Max, even though both trigger the "Dolby Vision" mode.

This issue seems to happen exclusively with the "Chromecast with Google TV 4K", as when I use an Apple TV, the brightness and color is the same as the native app, as expected, and I could fully enjoy the TV.

Unfortunately, I do not own the Apple TV I tested with and I own the "Chromecast with Google TV 4K" device.

I'd like to fix this brightness and color problem. Is there any way to access peak brightness settings or something, from within the "Chromecast with Google TV 4K" settings?

Otherwise, what would be the solution to properly enjoy content on my LG C1 OLED TV?

Hello GTMoraes,

Thanks for reaching out and for being a step ahead of us. May I know the Android version of your Chromecast with Google TV (4K)? If it's on Android 12, please be advised that our team is currently looking into this issue. We suggest you send feedback about this via Google TV using this keyword "CCT3 HDR not working on Android 12 + LG C1 OLED TV"

Thanks,

Jennifer
