Help! What Causes Protect Smoke Alarm Wires Chirping in Ceiling

Kimdens
Community Member

We bought this house a year ago. Now I have so Nest Protect smoke detectors chirping. I replaced the batteries with Lithium ones and they still chirp at night. I finally unplugged them and they aren’t chirping, the wires in the ceiling is what’s chirping loudly. I can’t seem to connect these to my WiFi either. What is causing this issue? They don’t expire until 2027. I’m at a loss.

Hello Kimdens,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Community. To know more about this issue, I'd like to confirm, what is the light status you're getting? How far is it from your Wi-Fi router? Make sure you use the Energizer Ultimate Lithium AA (L91) batteries. If you install a different battery it might work but it won't last long. Also, just a reminder, Nest Protects can only be connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.

I appreciate the help, MplsCustomer.

Regards,

Emerson
