Hi
Cam someone explain to my why the UI for the scheduling is so poor and doesn't do anything as expected.
Why can't I just set a time on and a time off.
My system takes whatever the last temp set was and carries it in until it hits the next one.
Surely when I don't set a temperature it should turn itself off.
I've now had to spend an hour setting a temperature at every hour interval so that it maintains a correct temperature throughout the day. Which is totally ridiculous
I'm not the only one who thinks this! I have several colleagues who have installed and removed the system because of this UI and I'm thinking if joining them.
Why make it so complicated.
Time on and time off. Simple!!!!

Hey Taosage,
Apologies for the delayed reply. I wanted to follow up and ensure you are good to go. Please let me know if you still have any questions from here, as I would be happy to take a closer look and assist you further.
Best regards,
Jake

Hi Jake
If you are asking have a managed to set my system up, then yes. With some huge caveats and endless bugs and a UI that is trying way to hard to "break the mold" that it doesn't function in a simple and logical manner.
1. Why can't I just tell the system to be off during a certain time period?? Literally the most obvious thing to be able to do in a heating system set time on and off and a temperature for this period. Instead I have to set a temperature (guessing it would be right for the actual heat of the time of day) for every hour of the day.
2. Even when I've spent this time setting this up it is still trying to override to higher temperatures that I haven't even set.
3. Both thermostats are constantly being marked as offline on the app, and won't come back on remotely. It's actually easier and quicker for me to walk through the whole house and use the dial itself, which a) defeats the purpose of the app and b) I get there only to find the thermostat is actually working perfectly so clearly the app isn't. (Oh and before you start mentioning WiFi and/or networking issues etc. I've had an actual Google network engineer (my wife works for Google!) go over it with me and it's all perfect)
So while yes the system "works"
Does it do what I expected and how...
No.
And from what I understand from others I am not the only one. It's great to have all these fancy AI nice to have features (and there are a lot of them in the nest system). However when you can't even get the basic must haves (on/off at this time) working in a simple manor, then all the fancy stuff is meaningless.
Definitely put me off expanding any further into the nest system
And will potentially be looking to just bite the cost of replacing with a hive system.

Well since the other thread I was on that was addressing these issues has been closed for lack of responses.
Some of us have lives outside of messing around with this God dam thermostat meaning we can't always respond as quickly as people who are paid to respond.
Yet more poor impressions. You guys should do some lean six sigma training and learn about the Voice of the Customer.
Anyway I'm digressing.
Still having all the issues listed above
Trying to heat to higher than set temp.
Preheating even when it's been turned off and set to 0 hours. Still find to doing it most days.
App still buggy as hell and everything is "offline" pretty much permanently. When it's totally not!
And yes I'm going to repeat myself yet again.
The schedule system is just flat out wrong.
Really it is
I'm pretty sure how this went in a meeting.
Time on time off, at a set temp. How EVERY thermostat works.
No! We must think outside the box it needs to be clever and different. We can't use the same as everyone else.
Newsflash
Being too clever can be a bad thing. Why reinvent the wheel?

This app gets worse by the week!!!!
It's now taken to saying I'm away from the house even though I'm still here!
Basically I have now turned off EVERY smart function of this thermostat!
What is the actual point of this so called smart thermostat?!?!?
It seems to be trying to do the exact opposite of what it should do in that situation.
So sick of this tech!
Big failure. If it wasn't for the extra cost of the equipment and work to remove and install something else I would be doing so.
