Nest learning 3rd Gen manual schedule

I just recently had a Nest 3rd Gen learning therm. installed so far so good , I think.    We have auto schedule enabled  but this morning I tried setting up a manual schedule .    I set the my schedule for 8 am  to be at 65 degrees  and for 2 Pm  to be at 69 degrees.  M- F.     I created the schedule past 8 am around 8:30  but the set temperature didn't change, I had to manually change it.       

Do I have to turn off auto schedule  for it to work on the manual schedule  I set up or was it because it was created past the time I set it for ?
