My Nest learning Thermostat stopped connecting to wifi about a year ago, then more recently started flashing red. I pulled it off and manually charged it - it came back only for a short time and shut down again. I purchased a new Nest Thermostat today - and although similar - this one has accessible batteries, but the wiring seems to be a bit different. Was hoping to clarify where I should put what. The current Nest has is for heat only and it's a Forced Hot Water system. I have two wires. White wire going to W1 and red wire going to Rc. The new nest doesn't have the same options to use. I have a left column with Y, C, W and a right column with G, R, *OB
I just want to be sure I use the correct ones. Leaning towards the W & R.

Hello Calli74,
You must connect the W1 wire to the W terminal and the RC wire to the R terminal according to the wiring you currently have.

Apparently I also need to add a Common power wire as well. Ugh! Prob swap this out for another Learning Thermostat and save the time and trouble of adding the wire.

Hello,
I do understand where you are coming from. When it comes to the Nest Thermostat, it typically requests a common wire on some systems, especially if it only has a heating system.

Thanks for the help. I ended up returning the Google Nest Thermostat and purchasing the more expensive Nest Learning Thermostat as it was more cost effective than hiring an electrician to run a common wire for my Heating System only. Thanks for
the insight though! Cheers.
