My Nest Mini hasn't been playing music as reliably as it used to

I got YT Premium, and it would respond to commands to play artists, playlists, podcasts... with, e.g., artists whose names sounded almost nothing like what I said.

Some artist stations on Pandora it simply won't play—"Sorry, something went wrong."

It won't play "my music" on Deezer. "Sorry, something went..."

I bought it last year. I've tried resetting it, then un- and re-plugging it. At this point, I might get an Echo if I didn't hate supporting Amazon.

I will not give Spotify ad revenue or subscription money.

Anyone have any fix(es)?

Hey Sayetsu,

Thanks for posting in our community!

I understand your frustration with your Nest Mini not playing music as expected. This could be due to a few reasons.

If this was more common with other apps, we could ensure speech recognition and voice match are properly trained to improve accuracy. However, since you're having problems with specific music apps, here are some suggestions:

  • Verify Music Service Settings:
Make sure YouTube Music is set as the default music service in the Google Home app since you have YouTube Premium. For other music services, confirm your accounts are linked in the Google Home app. You can delete and relink them if needed.
  • Update your firmware
Check for any updates for the Google Home app. If you suspect your Nest mini is not on the latest version, check this article about updates to Google Nest and home speakers.

Make sure to be as clear and concise as possible with your voice commands, avoid any background noise that might interfere, and try specifying the song title or artist name instead of just a partial name to ensure Google Assistant will be able to recognize it.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards

Angel
