"Broadcast" responds but doesn't Broadcast

When I ask Home to Broadcast it works fine.  When my husband asks, it responds and even says "Broadcasting" but it does not broadcast.  We tried "Broadcast to all speakers" and that doesn't work either for him.

Thanks for posting — let's see what's going on with your device.

 

Are you broadcasting from your Google Home speaker to other speakers? How far is your husband from your speaker when he's broadcasting? Also, it is happening when broadcasting from his phone to your speaker?

 

Try rebooting your devices and router to refresh the connection. Resetting your Google Home might help too.

We will try to reboot the system. It is the Google Home Speaker. He is standing right next to the speaker. It hears him. It responds. It just doesn't broadcast. It works when I do it.

Thanks for reaching out, and apologies for the delayed response here. It's strange that your husband is unable to broadcast using your Google Home/Nest devices. Let's dig deeper - is it happening to all devices or just on a specific one? Is it working before? How many accounts are linked on the Google Home app? Is voicematch activated? Also, what are the steps that you've done?

Thanks again for the responses.  Here's the situation - 

- We have 4 speakers. We have two accounts. We have voice matched for both of us.

- Broadcast has worked for both of us in the past.

- The only thing we know that has changed it that one of the speaker is unplugged, due to some home reno.

- It works for me.

- When I my husband tries it, the speaker he is talking to responds to him just as it does for me.  The difference is that the message does not play on any of the speakers.

- Ah HA!  He just tried to broadcast from a different speaker and it worked.  So it is just the one speaker.  We'll try to reboot that one. and try again.

Rebooted the speaker that responds, but does not broadcast (only to one user) - no change.

Hi Karen, 

 

I appreciate all the details you've shared. Since we have isolated the the issue appears only in one speaker, let's go ahead and perform a complete reset to that speaker and set it up again near the router. Make sure that you will also use the same accounts linked on the other speakers.

I have a Nest Hub arriving soon. I'll do the reset when I'm setting up the new unit. 🙂

OK...we setup a new nest hub.  After that was setup, my husband asked "what is my next meeting".  It didn't recognize him.  As we went thru the process to retrain his voice, the Home app on his phone said he had never been invited to join our "Home".  I invited him.  He retrained his voice and now he can broadcast and it recognizes him.  So one (or both) of those two things were the issue.  Either 1) he was not recognized as an individual OR 2) I had never invited him to join our "Home".  Thank you for your suggestions and for keep asking if it was solved.  We love our new Nest Hub!
